Why I fear Gay Shepard

But my issue with allowing a gay Shepard is more with how it's going to be implemented. In Dragon Age 2, I was being all buddy buddy with Anders. Then he declares his undying love. I say not interested.. and he barely spoke to me the entire game and it was difficult to get his loyalty up.
I have no problem with homosexual relations in any game, but to me, this just seems like too much PC. Shepard has most likely had 2 straight relationships already.
But if its in, I really hope it isn't forced. Garrus is my buddy and we joke about our luck with the women, don't make him hit on me.

Nope, Garrus and Shepard make references to each other looks and about luck with women. Right after you recruit him and he's banged up.
I don't see why it should be locked? Its not a homophobic thread.

And I don't see it as too much PC. It's primarily for gay players who haven't romanced anyone thus far.

Shepard: Hey Garrus.
Garrus: heeeeeeeeeeeeey!

I'm pretty sure you won't have to worry about it being pushed on you though, considering this is Mass Effect, and the main demographic is young straight males. I'm sure you'll probably have to really be trying if you want to get into a gay male romance.
And yeah, this thread is bound to get locked soon. =(

In theory this holds true for other romances too.
I certainly hope they don't make any character force themselves on you unless you knowingly start the romance. No surprise plz.
But it's entirely up to the player as to who Shepard has romanced. I can tell you that I have playthroughs where there have been 2 homosexual relationships already. That argument is invalid.
If they do make Garrus a s/s romance then I would want to make sure that it is Shepard who starts any flirting (much like the femshep Garrus romance- it implied that Garrus hadn't really considered it, but was up for trying new things. He didn't come on to you) and make sure it is specifically labelled. I would like to see the icons from the dialogue wheel from DA2 in ME3.

Anway as others have pointed out this discussion wont go very far. Bioware have shown with prior ME games how to do it right so I dont really think there will be too much of an issue. Plus im sure Bioware learnt alot from DA2.

No, it's not but the subject is too touchy right now. Once we have more info we'll be able to discuss more freely about these things.

Shepard has been straight, from ME1-2. You can class your Liara romance as a lesbian one but it wasn't, she is a asexual alien. You can class Kelly as a romance, but it wasn't, just some stripping.
This just seems so forced to please the human rights/politically correct brigade. Why not have a muslim character while we're at it. And a handicapped Playable character?
I have nothing against gays, I just don't see why they are trying to ram this into a pre-existing story. It was a great idea for dragon age and future games, but I'd rather they spent the time on this making the relationships they do have in the game feel more worthwhile, and so would most tbh.

I'd be inclined to agree with you somewhat. But this horse has been glue for a while.

No, Shepard has always been what the player has wanted him/her to be in terms of sexuality. Bioware is admitting that now with the inclusion of s/s content. And your Femshep argument are just absurd. Liara IS female (read the codex) and pursuing Kelly is blatantly lesbian, no matter the depth of the relationship. Excuses, excuses.
Why you care about optional content that has nothing to do with you is trivial. Making a bi romance doesn't take much effort, you know, so it won't detract much from what you're getting. You have to accept fanservice even if it isn't your thing. I know I did with the Tali and Garrus romancers.
And gays didn't do anything to your story. It was Bioware's decision and no one else's. Again, it doesn't affect your Shepard in any way.
P.S. I need to save this text somewhere...
