First of all, let me clear up that I cannot register my digitally downloaded copy of Mass Effect 2 because I downloaded it ages ago and I can't go back and find the email that contained it. But it is by no means an illegally downloaded copy; I bought it completely legally from the Gamestop website.

My problem is that whenever I open the ME2 Launcher, it goes fine until I press play, configure, or uninstall, and nothing happens. It doesn't freeze, or black out, or open a popup, nothing happens at all. When I press any of the other buttons, they do as they are supposed to do.

As said, mine is not a CD copy but a digitally downloaded copy of the game. I've had the game for ages and it's always worked more or less fine; nothing like this ever happened. My computer is also more or less up to date.

Windows version? DirectX version? Game version? CPU? RAM? GPU? Sound? Driver revisions for hardware?
You were pointed to the "Read First" thread which details how to lodge a problem report, but you have ignored it. How do you expect anyone to help?

It's Windows 7. I use an AMD Athlon™ II X2 215 Processor (speed being 2.70 GHz), and currently have 3 GB RAM (2.75 of which is usable). I have no idea about the rest. I don't know the first thing about computers--if I did I'd probably be solving this problem on my own. I didn't ignore the problem report, but I'd assumed that it could not be my computer's performance because until today this has never happened.

You are more than welcome to log onto EA's support site and try and get them to help, as they are the ones who provide official tech support for the game. These are user to user support forums. You were informed of what was required to post a problem report here, and you have failed to give the relevant information.
If you are unsure about what a computer is comprised of, and the technicalities of troubleshooting such a complex device, may I suggest you buy a console instead.
