I, like, have a dog now. I just started up the game, and there is suddenly a dog when there wasn't the last time I played. This is in the starting area while fleeing with the family. Is this a bug or an unlock or what?

You installed the Black Emporium DLC, it comes with a Mabari-pokemon.

And later on, you can summon the dog to continually fight with you.
