For specifics, the way the game works probably won't be similar to the Fable games, you don't travel across singular 'Levels' or 'Maps' to get to the next one. Each exit, to my understanding, is connected to a world map, or local map, and you choose where to go from there. The individual maps are apparently very open however, and there should be no shortage of awesome scenery and the like. It's more open than other BioWare games in the sense that, you don't just unlock a single area at a time. Again, to my understanding, each major story 'milestone,' as it were, will unlock several areas, making for a greater orientation towards exploration.
Recurring side-quests are not one of BioWare's themes, and I doubt you'll find anything like that in DA:O, but we'll see.
Others have already answered the Character Control questions, so I'll skip that.
Mini-games, despite that we haven't really seen any, are kind of likely, though not guaranteed. There have been mini-game type events in several BioWare games, like the Racing thing in KotOR. This is offset by games like Neverwinter Nights where there really weren't any, so we'll just have to wait and see.
There aren't any Unarmed or Hand-to-hand combat abilities that I've seen or heard of. I'd say it's pretty doubtful, but again, we'll just have to wait and see.
The Player Character will not be voiced. BioWare has commented as to why this is, versus in Mass Effect, where Shepard had a voice. The comments were something to the tune of, "Mass Effect puts you into a role with some variability, rather than allowing you to create the role from scratch. As the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate, allowing the player a large amount of freedom in who their character is was important to us. Unfortunately, the amount of time it would take to do the voice overs for all the different voice options would have taken far too long. DA:O would've been 1/3rd of the game it is now if we had done that." (This is NOT verbatim, merely to the best of my recollection.)
The maps, both the world map, and the local maps with multiple areas in them (The only one I've really seen is Denerim), are very large. Denerim, one of the cities within DA:O, has at least half-a-dozen places WITHIN the city itself you can explore, and there should be PLENTY of other villages/towns/cities/locales besides. From what I've seen of the world map, there are LOTS.
If you liked Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic, and Mass Effect, or any combination thereof, then know that DA:O will probably be the pinnacle of all of BioWare's work to date. GET THE GAME! HAROO!

it appears the game will allow you to choose the gender hair colors of your character not sure about skin color height weight or general body type so will there be any options regarding those things.
You can change your gender, facial features, and skin tone. Download the character creator to see what you can do.
So my question is will this game feature a tuely seamless open world style envoronment similar to games such as oblivion fallout 3 GTA and saints row.2
or will it it be a single world with lots of loading screens like fable 1 and 2.
No, it will be like the BG series. An area map with various locations you can visit.
the other question concerns the party, will the player actually be able to control party members
Yes. You have complete control of the party member.
will the game allow players to unequip weapons
I believe so, but am not sure.
will the characters have any unarmed combat abilities (non magical) in other words hand to hand combat abilities.
No
will the game have mini games ( such as card games aechery competitions whatever)
There is one mini-game with the Dog, but we know nothing about it.
Are there a lot of towns and villages in this game world.
Ferelden is something of a backwater nation. The majority of it is still wilderness.
will MC/player characters have a voice as in mass effect or will they be voiceless as they are in most other games that have conversation options.
Voiceless.
will the game have recurring side quests like fable 2 has or not as most other games do.
I don’t know. I don’t believe so.
and slightly off topic but since this is a bioware forum will there ever be any follow up games for the knights of the old republic and jade empire?
The MMO is the follow up game to knights of the old republic. I don’t know about Jade Empire, but would love to hear something.

thanks for the answers.
although regarding downloading the character creator . my pc is crap it can't really play any games newer than about 2002 it barely manages the sims 2 and could never play anything more advanced than that so I will be gitting the 360 version.
so hopefully the character creation options will be as good on the 360 version

They're essentially the same, so I wouldn't worry.

The game is not a "Seamless Open World," like Fallout 3 or Oblivion. (For your reference, I hate Oblivion. I love Fallout 3.)

Edit: If you go the rpg codex route, I gurantee you and yur loved ones will get death threats.

what reasons are usually given for hating it?
death threats? ong that site your talking about makes even the SR2 site seem extremely mature in comparision then
I am guessing there must be real hatred for two world then since even I dislike that game (hugest disappointment and biggest mess of a game)
Thaks for all the answers guys.
so if I have understood it all correctly .
Dragons age wotld will be rather similar in style to previous bioware titles such as mass effect rather than truely open world like Fallout 3 as in having different areas that are transported to.
Character creation is quite deep probably not as extensive as games such as Saints row 2 or a WWE game but still pretty extensive ?
your character always displays weapons (annoying but far from a big drawback)
no one mentioned if the character can walk or not but going by other bioware games I should think they will be smart enough not to go the two worlds skate 2 route.
clothing can be changed and even "normal " clothing can be worn.
there are a number of setlements.
party control is more similar to star wars knights of the old republic than to jade empire and mass effect..
its disappionting that it is not a open world game but it is sounding pretty great in most other ways.

Having given it some thought I would say that there will never be any follow ups to KOTR since thats a lucus arts owned title.
And Bioware is now part of EA rather than independent and hirable ..
Jade Empire has more chance since I think Bioware might actually own the rights to it but given the time span since that game was created and the lack of any talk of sequels the chances for follow ups to that game seem quite slim .
its a shame though since both games were great.
