It just amounts to wasted forum space, still

If anyone complaining about a problem doesn't choose to include data to use for diagnostics, answers just aren't possible.  PCs are not *anything* at all like game console systems.  OK, perhaps that really isn't new to you, but think how many new players a highly publicized game like this attracts.  There is almost nothing that is truly "standard" between various branded PCs, making the game developers' jobs very difficult, and requiring that warning labels be attached to game boxes for those games that have serious requirements (which includes this one).

In case you have misunderstood how to evaluate your PC compared to that game box label (and you may believe you do understand, and actually end up having been mistaken), we have to start from that point.  Please refer to an appropriate guide to problem reporting  and fill it all in (the game's own configuration utility collects most of what you don't already know, ready for you to consult that list).

In the DA2 forum for PC Tech Self-Help discussions, the guide is the one that I wrote, pinned on top as a "Sticky" message, and it starts off with "Before Anything Else".  If you are a very visually oriented person, my guide is 100% text, sorry about that.  Both DAO and ME2 have problem reporting guides that have plenty of nicely included graphical images to help you, and the principles involved in making a report are pretty universal.

Although my name appears as the "author" for the problem reporting guide on the top of the ME-1 Tech Forum, it's actually Chris Priestley's guide from the first days of ME2, that I paraphrased and posted.  Any of the four ought to interchange easily enough, making minor allowances for differences.

However you do it, please USE the forums' resources to full advantage.  Start with a search using Google or Yahoo, with the site redirector added, to find what archives already exist covering your problem:

site:social.bioware.com

Take a look at the Stickies on top of the forum you want to write a question to; those are up there to help you.

Be aware that it is a SELF-HELP situation, game players asking for advice from other gamers.  Official support is on EA's Help Site, not in here.

When you are writing up your situation, it is best to start your own personal post and not attempt a piggyback ride.  PCs are just too different for any "Me, too" case to fit.  If you are writing, and have consulted the archives, and have examined the Stickies, without satisfaction, please tell us so.

Every time I decide that I can leave off the reminder about spelling and paragraph breaks, someone will write one long run-on sentence, three pages long, filled with childish PM / TM mispellings, and prove me wrong, so here's the reminder:

Please use standard business quality spelling, punctuation, and paragraph breaks in your requests for help.

Thank you

Good morning new arrivals. Please remove your blinders and don your vision correction spectacles in this place. The stickies are there on top to help you; the archives are a valuable resource, and a completed problem report is the proper starting point for solving Tech Questions in this forum.

When requesting suggestions to solve tech problems, please refer to and follow the problem reporting description in the Opening Post of this thread, or the pinned Sticky on top of this forum that begins with the words "Before anything else".

It is summer now, with greatly reduced member readership in the forums; this sequel has been Bioware's least successful effort that I am aware of, with the lowest interest that I've seen since the days of NWN1.  So almost no one will be coming around this particular forum on a summertime weekend.

In order to improve your chances at getting an answer in spite of that, you need to include anything that may make a diagnosis easier, which is what a problem report form is intended to do.

Happy July 4th.  It is still "the weekend" for all intents and purposes.  Readership is way down, so the archives are your primary source of answers, just ignore the awful "Find" offered inside the forums.  It is next best to worthless.  Just add a redirector to a Google or Yahoo search:

The need for data hasn't changed.

No data in still equals no data out.

When you only want to waste forum space, just keep on ignoring the pinned threads, and your posts will be ignored as well, in due turn.

Inadequate information provided still means it's just not possible to offer a quality response, other than to point at the Stickies and the Archives.

New Arrivals here, PLEASE remove your blindfolds and look around. There is help already waiting for you, if you only open your eyes. All of the stumbling around crashing into furniture and walls here gets unfunny after awhile.

This had only scrolled down a very few pages, but new arrivals still can't see it any more. Loud noises going off, cannons maybe, flags flying, banners up high, fireworks, but you want to make us into clairvoyants instead? I WISH.

As before, this thread is to discuss the problem reporting PROCESS, not any individual game problem as such.

There has been no one readily available to answer questions here in most of the past nine months. Everyone left last spring, and most never came back. You will need the archives for answers. For the very few of us who occasionally do stop by here, fill out the problem report form described in the sticky that starts "Before anything else".

Pay attention to the sticky that starts with "Before anything else".

Although over a week has passed, this was still on the first index page, for those who keep on blundering through the door here wearing blindfolds. The SITE problem that appeared on Friday, and has consumed the minds of a dozen would-be gamers are overwhelming the gamers who actually need forum space here for actual problems with their games.
