Problems Bypassing locks

I have just started ME2 and just cannot fathom out what I am doing wrong when trying to bypass locks.  The instructions say to select a node and highlight it and left click it which I do.  I then find the matching node and click on that but it is hit and miss whether that will actually " connect " the two nodes and unlock one of the bypasses.   I end up matching all the nodes in the same way but I am lucky if it opens two or three locks.

Before this completely drives me around the bend, can anyone put me out of my misery and tell me what I am doing wrong.

From what it sounds like is just clicking the matches fast enough. I've not timed it proper, but it's like only a couple seconds to get the match before the little outline timer runs out. Took me quite a few tries before I got the timing down right.

Many thanks for your reply but unless I read you incorrectly, time does not seem to be the problem. I can match all the nodes well within the time allotted. What I don't understand is why the nodes do not "connect" up when I successfully link them. Do you have to do it in some sort of order. If so, what?

You have to match the symbols to the same symbols

Many thanks Moondoggie. I definitely match the symbols. What I have noticed is that I can select and click on matching symbols / nodes successfully but they do not always "connect" up on the circut board the first time round. I sometimes have to match the symbols (nodes) twice or three times before they will actually link up and of course in those circumstances, I run out of time. It makes me think that the nodes must be linked up in a certain order to get them to connect. Anyone know the answer?

It's definitely not matching in a particular order.  Going from your clarification, it almost sounds like it's not immediately registering what  you've clicked.  Have you noticed any input issues with anything else, game or just program related from mouse clicking?

From what i remember.
1: When no nodes are selected, it's fully "on mouse over", it's mean when your mouse is over a node, the node reveal is signe.

2: when a node is selected by cliking on it, the "on mouse over" is stoped and you have to select the matching node, if if it's corresponding node, one lock is open then you go back to "1" for the second lock, if you wait too much before chossing the maching node, the mini game also return to "1" and you have to reselect the first AND the second node faster.
If it's not the matching node, the mini game is over.

There is a limited time to link matching nodes, i don't remember but i think it's around 3 secondes or something like that.

If you are able to click on the matching node in less than 3 second or so, may be you have a programme running at the same time interfering with ME2.

To answer M-Sinistrari, I have had no other mouse clicking problem, so I am at a loss to think what else I can do but persevere, although if I can't get it to work,  I will have to play the game without it.  Looking at other forums on this subject, it seems the problem is or was quite common but I am going to try Siegdrifa's suggestion ffirst.

Thank you Seigdrifa, I'll try your suggestion and see how I get on and will let you know if it works.Posted Image

If you had been seeing other mouse clicking issues, I'd've suggested making sure your drivers were up to date.  Since it's localized to just that minigame, Siegdrifa's suggestion's looking like the best option.

I have at last cracked the lock bypass mini game and in case other gamers experience the same difficulty I had , I thought I would post the answer - at least it worked for me.  M Sinistrari was the closest, in that you have to click and match each pair of nodes extremely quickly - within a second or two in order to get them to link up on the circut board, whereas I thought all you had to do was match up all the pairs of nodes within the overall time limit allowed.  Thanks all of you for your help.
