I play good guys/gals. It's just what I do in general. However ME1 (going back and replaying it) seems to be giving me an opportunity to play the dark side without major in-game issues. Generally in RPG's the selfish PC does not get the best rewards, the best quests, the best girl, etc. So what about in ME1?
I wanted to try a role-play were I basically play an Earth-Born Sole Survivor. General play style will be that I basically hate non-humans. So any dialog option leaning that way would be the way I go. So what would I miss? I assume I could still romance Ashley? I can still tell Wrex to follow my orders and not get killed? Concil dies of course.
Is there any part of the story that gets missed if you go renegade?
Thanks.

You'd likely be renegade, meaning you'd be killing a lot of characters, siding with the seedy, and missing out on some assignments in ME2 and likely 3 because of the assignment givers being dead.
EDIT- Oh, and as for romances and squaddies, you'd be fine. You just wouldn't be able to change Ashley's views on The First Contact War and what it did to her family(specifically who the blame goes to and how much trust to give other species).

You won't really miss anything by going Renegade. I've heard some people describe the difference between Paragorn Shep and Renegade Shep as the difference between Captian Kirk and Dirty Harry. It's not really game changing, just diverging tempermant.
