My point is that there is now reason to wreak a class because it is overpowered, since it only effects the one person playing. Either you like the class in case and play with it, or don't if you think it is OPed or don't enjoy it.

My favorite build of Primal/BM/FM is looking less and less attractive.

Now I am wlling to admit Blood magic was pretty crazy. I don't like the idea of them nerfing Staggered damage on some spells, since those were mages main kill shots. I assume Chain lightning and hemorhage will still be powerful spells, but it seems to me like mages DPS was never very high anyways. The Staggered Nuker + Fenris was one of the only ways you saw big spike dmg on mages.

That said, it may be interesting to see how builds start playing out. Mages will be forced to think about spell combinations quite a bit more I think. It will become neccesary to branch out to more spell trees and therefore change around companions to be compatable with new tactics. Might be time for me to make a serious try at using Disorient as my main CCC.

All of this is on the assumption that enemy health levels have stayed the same.
They haven't, they have been halved. With limitations put on lt and boss level enemies to 40% from a single source.

Chain Lightning stagger modifier has been halved. It's a non issue.

Actually health levels have gone UP and AreleX on aother forum has confirmed that it is noticable.  It's the elite and assassin health that's been halved (after the increase) but even then, there is a hard ceiling to how much elites and assassins (and bosses) can take from any one hit which hits abilities like Assassination hard (making them effectively worthless since it's not worth using Assassinate on anything BUT an elite, assassin, or boss).

If you want a challenge, then play a weaker combination.  There is nothing that says you HAVE to play a combination that you coinsider to be OPed on a single player game.

So this is a non-issue.  Really.  The so called "balance" mavens in this case (the single player game) are simply punishing players that aren't into the combat grind as much as they are, and I'd think a company would want to avoid that.

If they arn't looking for a combat grind, they can lower the difficulty and just enjoy the story.  If you leave the game unbalanced the people who are looking for a challenge and metagaming are left out.

But it doesn't matter because thankfully no one has to play how you think they should.

That doesn't change the fact that for a single player game balance is simply not necessary because there is no one else to balance against.  [In a multiplayer game this is completely different of course.]  Basically if you are the only one playing, so what if there are studly and lame combinations?  It doesn't harm anyone not even yourself since you can always choose to avoid the combos you don't like.

I find it odd that a person who has to resort to name-calling individuals is calling someone a troll simply because the respective person doesn't like the latest patch, which is an issue many others have in case you haven't noticed.

He keeps appearing in gameplay threads to spam his "should have fixed things besides gameplay" agenda. I thought this thread was about BM changes.

He's good intentioned, but it's tired and annoying.  The other forums are filled with people more interested in complaining than being helpful or productive.  It was nice that this forum and the strategy forum had none.

I was discussing issues with you directly until it was blindingly apparent that you could not follow the conversation as you were twisting subjects and time itself to fit your argument. At that point it remained pointless to remain civil. Now this holier than thou bs. Get over yourself.

Blood Slave's explosion has no friendly fire. Its original function will also work properly.... and I don't mean its function of enslaving an enemy. I mean its function of instantly killing any normal rank target after 15 seconds. Not only that, but an enslaved enemy has this taunting effect similar to Sebastian/Shadow Decoy. Its an incredible multi-faceted spell.

have you done any testing on elites with it? if so, are the results the same as prepatch?

I wasn't the one that raised the issue of balance, but it IS a topical issue here.  Is balance necessary or even ipso facto desirably in a single-player game?  I would argue that it is not, and as such all efforts to "balance" the combat by Bioware counts as wasted effort (or at least non-productive effort) when there is so much else that is wrong (and fixable) with the game (such as being able to turn off the prologue combat just as a minor starter!)

Yea, the results are the same. Enslavement ends in a couple seconds against elites and bosses, no explosion. I did all my testing in the Dissent quest. Grave Robber rocked those templars, being weak to spirit and all.

Highest willpower requirement is 18. You don't need to dump a single point into willpower, just grab +6 from equipment and runes.

So apparently Blood Slave can't enslave a giant spider(tried it 5 times to make sure it wasn't a resist).... but it still dies in 15 seconds and explodes. But this time, the explosion has friendly fire.

Edit: Hmm... I think theres more than 1 type of "Giant Spider" thats normal ranked. Just tried it against another set of Giant Spiders and Blood Slave worked. No FF. These spiders seemed to have less health than the previous bunch, too.(2.4k explosion vs. 2.6k explosion)

so the ff is in the slave code, not the upgrade
spider is immune to ensalve but there is no check to the other mechanics.

did other enemies take damage when the spider exploded?
