Oh aye, besides building, I completely forgot about DOW2 (nearly fimished the campaign & Free Falcon 5.5 - just updated to the latest patch & learning to fly a few different planes.

Dang - just seen the new Conan module - looks pretty good so far another one for the list to play.

Just not enough hours in the week, what with real life getting in the way!

I've just seen the new Conan Chronicles module. I played the first one, and I was going to spread the good news around here, but you were faster. It has made a potent entry in my playlist.

Blimey, Hell - you too? I've flown a whole bunch of sims since way back when I had an Atari ST - you just can't beat every key on the keyboard having one or more functions! Falcon 1 got me going while I was at university, along with all the Microprose sims from F19 onwards & I'm still trying to install CFS3 ETO successfully - must be missing something important along the process.

I was going to give LOMAC a try - its definitely prettier than Falcon 4 - and it had a flyable A10, but then I got building in NWN2 & never really flew it much. More recently, Free Falcon 5.5 came out, and it has flyable A10's too, and all the other planes, in a system I know - so I don't think LOMAC's going to get a look in.

Only problem now is my son - at 5, he's starting to enjoy flying too, and the odd bit of building on the toolset - leaves even less time for me!

Ever play the stealth fighter simulator? I think it was microprose. There were so many functions on the keyboard that the game came with an overlay to sort them all out. It was pretty neat, you had to use strategy to avoid all the radar installations to stay hidden and such.

I was a big fan of Aces over the Pacific and Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe in their day. X-wing, of course, as well...

Nothing to do with computers really but there is a book based WWI dogfighting game called Ace of Aces from many moons ago that used two books - one Allies and one Axis - each with 250 or so pages of hand drawn images depicting the view from your own respective cockpit. There were a dozen or so allowable maneuvers that could be selected and each player, while looking at their page, would select a maneuver and then state the page number listed just below their maneuver choice. The opponent then turns to the page specified by their opponent in their book and looks up the maneuver they selected and turns to the page listed under it. Both opponents always end up on the same page with the respective views from their cockpit. It is the really the coolest system.

Regards

I just loaded up the first one on my travel laptop and downloading the secound now.  I figure I run through them both on this laptop while I'm on jobs and see how they are.  Been eyeing them for a while any way.  Now just to figure out what I want to make.

Ah - Microprose F19 Stealth Fighter! - I have memories of sneaking around Iran, just above stalling speed, less than 500ft up, between the mountains, to keep my plane hidden, and threading the needle around the North Cape between all the major SAM sites - happy days! Never got the sequel, but it looked like more of the same type of fun.

On another completely unrelated to NWN note, I finally got CFS3 European Theatre of Operations working last night - you'd never believe that the game was originally released so many years ago - the community's worked wonders with it - just like with NWN2, eh?

While I'm waiting for Old Republic and ME3 I'm playing BG2 but played Witcher and Witcher 2 before that and ME2 to create saves mainly but mostly because I felt like blasting something lol.

I remember a game like that, F-117a or something I think when I was in HS.  Had to copy it in two pieces and use carboard to play a friends copy on my computer.  AoP was one of my favs too, alon with Red Baron...which now I look back and can't believe how bad the graphics are even on sims.  Wish there was a good updated version of them.

I just about to finish my Druid playthrough of Connan mod.   I notice a few PC games came out resently so when I get back on land (offshore right now) I'm going to pick up a few new games for my travel/gameing laptop.

Personally I would think of 12-20 as high level, Hordes of the Underdark range. 8-12ish is more like mid range, maybe even lower. Still, you're right about there not being many. I guess lower levels are just more popular.

Played a game of Sins of a Solar Empire. Almost lost when I had my main fleet in a system far away from where the computer attacked me.

After more than two years owning NWN2, I've tried a PW (Sea of Dragons). Has been fun so far, I may try others some day, to see what I've been missing.

Also playing: basketball. (No one said only videogames were allowed :P).

Hi - far be it from me to try & persuade you away from NWN :(, and I don't know which game you mean by AoP, but from what I've seen, a good update of Red Baron is the recently released Over Flanders Fields www.overflandersfields.com/info.htm

Also, while its not exactly the same stealth or nothing approach, the latest version of Free Falcon allows you to fly the F117 (among lots of others) in various theaters around the world www.freefalcon.com/forum/content.php  . Both are free (although OFF needs a CFS3 disk, unless you have a download version of CFS3).

OK, now get back to Neverwinter :police:

I sort of remember that F-117a game as well.  I was drowning in first year University and only played gold box games and some Tony Larussa baseball.  A classmate at school got wind that I had a computer (286: at the time 386 were brand new but too expensive for me) and lent me the game and key map cardboard which if I recall fit around the keys.  I couldn't barely get the plane off the ground (or it may have been an aircraft carrier).  I gave up after a few days of playing.  Red Baron was a flight sim more down my alley.  Cool to hear a new version is out.  I think this is the second time I heard of it but didn't have time to follow up last time.
