I just picked up a copy of IL2 1946. This is the first flight sim I've played in about 15 years and I must say I am amazed at the progress. It's like flying in a movie. I really like it.

@Likeorasgood:  "I remember a game like that, F-117a or something I think when I was in
HS.  Had to copy it in two pieces and use carboard to play a friends
copy on my computer.  AoP was one of my favs too, alon with Red
Baron...which now I look back and can't believe how bad the graphics are
even on sims.  Wish there was a good updated version of them."

Hi - far be it from me to try & persuade you away from NWN :(, and I don't know which game you mean by AoP, but from what I've seen, a good update of Red Baron is the recently released Over Flanders Fields www.overflandersfields.com/info.htm

Also, while its not exactly the same stealth or nothing approach, the latest version of Free Falcon allows you to fly the F117 (among lots of others) in various theaters around the world www.freefalcon.com/forum/content.php  . Both are free (although OFF needs a CFS3 disk, unless you have a download version of CFS3).

OK, now get back to Neverwinter :police:

Cly.

I sort of remember that F-117a game as well.  I was drowning in first year University and only played gold box games and some Tony Larussa baseball.  A classmate at school got wind that I had a computer (286: at the time 386 were brand new but too expensive for me) and lent me the game and key map cardboard which if I recall fit around the keys.  I couldn't barely get the plane off the ground (or it may have been an aircraft carrier).  I gave up after a few days of playing.  Red Baron was a flight sim more down my alley.  Cool to hear a new version is out.  I think this is the second time I heard of it but didn't have time to follow up last time.

Yah it was an aircraft carrier, I never had problems takeing off it was the landing part.  I think I was in JH/HS when we played them.  I had a 286DX that was faster than my friends normal bar bone.  He had to have Red Baron on all high settings and I had to keep it on min sinsitivity or I'll end up crashing.   I allso remember my dad said out of the 120MB (yes kids that is MB not G) of storage I had 60 for games and never thought I would fill it up.

I'll have to check out that new Red Baron out and some of the other flight sims that been posted.  I haven't played a flight sim in ages and been wanting to play some that weren't to arcadish.

I can vouch for Il-2, it's the mother of all flight combat sims, but not for the faint of heart, at least with the realism turned all the way up. I lost most of my first dogfights to stalls.

IL-2 is a beast as LotRS says. Very challenging but fun to play.

I only ever landed a few times, only really ever got iff the ground a few times as well I think :)

I mastered taxiing though ...

I played a flight simulator once, an f-18 hornet sim, IIRC, on a mac. I did nothing but crash. It soured my view on flight sims.

My first time out, F4F outta Wake, I revved up the engine and plowed into the three planes right in front of me--I couldn't see them because the taildragger's nose blocked my sight.

For me its the fun of high speed low level flight through enemy territory, loaded down with ordnance & sams & migs all around, threading the needle to the target & back - The old Microsoft F19 / F117 games were fantastic for that, and Falcon 4 / Free Falcon just adds a whole level extra realism & complexity that I'm still getting to grips with - completely different from NWN & the thrill of a high level fireball!

Comisserations Lugaid - apparently real life pilots had the same problem & used to get round it by hanging out of the side of the cockpit until they were sure there was no-one taxiing in front of them - according to Microprose European Air War, that boasted a view that simulated it, although I couldn't see any key that switched to it.

Never tried RDR but supposedly it's great. I like FF8. And just so you know I will never pick up infamous 2 just because of the way coles face looks now. This is off topic but anyone got any recommendations on cheap games for 360 or playstation? Nothing to play until GOW3 :crying:.

edit:realized this is a month old thread with three pages on a game that I've never even played, I'm never going to get a answer .

With the news of the NHL returning to Winnipeg, I find myself deeply enamored with hockey again. As such, I've been playing NHL 11 on the 360.

God I can't believe I finally took a step to the dark side....

The Witcher 2. Just hit Act 2... and I'm also tempted to later replay it with an alchemist character build, on the Iorveth path.

I've also got ME2 that I got for free with a DA2 promotion waiting quitly in the back for me to try it out.

Might eventually get to re-playing DA2 with another character build as well.

Battlefield 3. I'm disappointed by the increase in bullet spongeeness with each patch and the goofy weapon/attachment parameters/physics. The game is highly unrealistic and getting more Space Marine with every patch. Yet Another Game That Fails To Live Up To It's Potential.

I still have not played the two DAII modules Mark of the Assassin and Legacy. Before I do those, I have to complete a full DA:O, DA:A, and DAII run.

There is a backlog of NWN2 modules waiting for me.

Right now I am playing EQ2 free with my characters back from 2005. ^^

Otherwise I play NWN2 modules as a study for my own, the recent ones being The Corruption of Khiaro, Trinity, Sheep and Stone and Asphyxia. And I replayed the SoZ Campaign for more study a month ago.

I'm focusing on NWN2 right now. I've mainly been building, but I've also comlpeted my second full play-through of the OC and started MotB.

I've been trying to get through some mods so i can vote on them at the Vault. I've finished Corruption of Kiahoro, Sheep and Stone (most recent version this time), and Shaar Moan.

I'm in progress on Traveller, The Wizard's Apprentice, and The Caravan Club.

Did you vote on sheep and stone Image IPB

Not the best of my mods to take any tips from but thanks for condsidering it.

I don't do much playing due to the modding commitments I have set for myself. But right now I am play testing The Wizards Apprentice II.

... and it's very good indeed.

I had a binge of Skyrim. Completely ignored the main quest. Gulped down my fill, put it down and don't care to pick it up again.

Then back to the nwn2 toolset.

Incidentally, Bethesda said the Skyrim toolset would release in January. Still no "release date". Surprised their community hasn't seemed to call them on that. I've been getting the feeling they're going to say "What? We promised a toolset? Ummm... About that..."

/ No, I don't plan to build for Skyrim.

Gratuitous Space Battles. When I need a break from polishing Wizard's Apprentice II, I pull up GSB and go to town. Got it for christmas as part of a humble bundle. It is an insanely fun little space game. Highly recommend it.

I'm trying to get Neverwinter Nights 1 working on my Intel Mac running Lion using Wineskin. I played the last few days using Parallels, but I'd rather play native and the Mac versions of NWN were written for PowerPC and won't run on Lion. I have it running, but am unable to get any sound to work.

When I feel like building I work on my Gems of Power campaign.
