Oh dear, perhaps you should not vote then.

If I want something different I trawl for falsh games. Tower defense on the ANDKON web site is great as is toss the turtle.

A few of you have mentioned flight simulators. The best one ever made, as far as flight models and graphics, is Rise of Flight from 777 Studios. It's WW1, multiplayer and offline, and FREE. Of course, if you get hooked as I did, you'll spend a lot on DLC (more planes). It also takes a pretty hefty rig to run at high frame rates and graphics settings, but then so does NWN2. Be warned, it's a simulation, not a game.

If you like strategy games, check out American Civil War from AGEod. It's currently undergoing a major upgrade fueled by community volunteers (sound familiar?). It's about the same age as NWN2 and like us still has a very active community of PBEM fans and modders.

Neither requires Steam.

Yes, I was going to buy Skyrim today, since I played and enjoyed Morrowind years ago. Then I found out that you must have a Steam account to play it. To me, that's like telling me that, every time I want to drive my car, I have to contact Honda on the internet and get them to unlock my car ignition with a satellite signal. Never, ever will I have anything to do with Steam. If that's the future of computer gaming, I'll go back to paper and cardboard.

I run my Steam client in "offline mode", so it never contacts Steam unless I want it to.  There's and edit so that it doesn't ask you if you want to go to "online mode" when the client is started.

Not to defend Steam.

"Orcs Must Die".  Its a hoot and has more to it than one would think.

The release version used to run just fine without Steam. You just had to run the executive directly. But they seem to have patched in closer ties with Steam now.

I installed the original Baldur's Gate (TotSC) just to see if it would run at all under 64-bit Win7. I spent about an hour on the weekend playing it for a laugh, and to see how far computer graphics have come over the last decade.

I either had the option of full-screen mode (with heavy pixelation) or windowed mode (which looked nicer - but you need binoculars to play it on a high resolution screen). I stopped playing after I'd met my quota of diseased gibberlings.

There's a resolution fix for BG2, I guess BG1 may have one too, if you want to check it out.

I played Kingdoms of Amalur demo this morning and it was a nice little game. Reminds me of Two worlds and Planescape Torment. Unfortuntely it has Wow style grahpics and I doubt it will have MP or toolset.
