Those classes would have unique powers that are both/either based on affinity and the class passive.

I am merely trying to blur in the edges of each class, but in the end, they (at least can) play entirely different.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. But I have to say that I hope classes will be as different as possible in ME3, ideally with no shared powers.

I have to agree with Kronner here. The difference between classes needs to be increased, not decreased.

Why? Because people will always come up with "optimal" builds. In ME2, there are "optimal" builds for every class. For Vanguard, you have the Heavy Charge-Inferno Ammo-Champion. For Infiltrator, you have the Widow-Assassination Cloak-Assassin. Revenant-Hardened AR-Shock Trooper. Widow-Heightened AR-Commando. Assault Armor-Guadian.

If all classes share powers, no matter how you distribute affinities, people will come up with builds that are 'optimal' across all classes just like Mass Effect 1's Singularity Vanguard. That would decrease the multiple playthrough value of the game.

In the end I don't care what is done as long as you can replay the game "many times" and enjoy it.

[Duh yes something that increases replay value is likely very good]
