Though on the PS3, there's probably not going to be a difference in load times between it and that video, or at least not that much. Though I could be wrong.

Is the game gonna be same like Skyrim where it's all about enchanting & blacksmithing? Are there loot system like Diablo where each and every sword you find will have different statistics & properties?

From what i read all of amalur it seems like the game is some sort of Skyrim clone but with cartoony graphics. I'm really interested in the combat where Skyrim was kinda shallow to my taste.

Yes it has a random loot system similar to Diablo and it has Blacksmithing and Gem making/socketing to complement it.

The only thing Skyrim and KoA share, barring similar lockpicking, is the sheer size of the game worlds.
I'm sure there's little similarities here and there, but by no means would I call it a Skyrim clone.

In video games, there are three genres that are overdone:
1. Fantasy with elves. WarCraft. The Elder Scroll. Dragon Age. Here is a tips: Tolkien was original. Everyone else is not. Seriously, it is possible to create a high fantasy without elves or dwarves or orcs or goblins.
2. Space-age sci-fi with an infectious alien specie aka the Alien aka the Borg aka the Zerg aka the Flood aka the Husk. They all do the same thing: they take over human hosts and turn humans into hive-mind space zombies. Which brings me to the third most overdone genre in video games...
3. Zombie apocalypse or post-apocalypse. Here: List of Zombie Video Games at Wikipedia. It is a long list.
Seriously, video game makers need to move away from those three particular genres. So sick and tired of them.

Watched the video footage on YouTube. Kingdoms of Amatur: Reckoning looks and feels, generic. Even the title is generic, (another fantasy game title with "kingdoms" and "reckoning" in it.) Do we really need another fantasy with kingdoms and elves and dragons and magic?

Or maybe you could stop playing them? There's a thought.

Hopefully the demo will help me decide what type of character I want to play before release. So many options to consider.
Yeah, I know right? Crazy amount of options there, and even if you pick the same destiny that someone else has, your weapon choices, enchantments, and abilities will still make you wildly different.

I have stopped playing them some years ago. I have not played Dragon Age precisely because it had elves in it.LPPrince wrote...

Here are good examples: Ubisoft's I Am Alive vs Naughty Dog's the Last of Us. Both titles are post-apocalyse games. As a game developer, Naughty Dog outclasses Ubisoft. However, Naughty Dog's the Last of Us is yet another zombie apocalyze game. When I saw the zombie in the Last of Us trailer, I immediately lost my interest and have not followed the game. I could care less about another zombie game.
On the other hand, Ubisoft's I Am Alive is also an apocalyse game - but the big surprise is that it does not have zombies! The enemies and obstacles in the game are other humans who have reverted to cruelty, violence, murders, banditry, pillaging, plundering, lawlessness and barbarism to survive in a post-apocalyse world. That, for me, is a major selling point. I actually do not have a lot of respect for Ubisoft as a developer. Their games have mixed records -- more misses than hits. However, I Am Alive has certainly caught my attention.

So how would you craft a fantasy world? You know, sans elves, dwarves, orcs, mages, rogues, swordsman, and the like?
Blizzard's Diablo is a gothic fantasy with no elves, dwarves, orcs or dragons. Just angels versus demons, heaven versus hell, with humans caught in the middle. I am atheist, but I like the Judeo-Biblical influence in Diablo.
Jade Empire was a fantasy. The Avatar series (i.e., Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend of Korra) are fantasy, with no elves, dwarves, orcs, or even magic. Of course, they use mythical martial arts to substitute for magic.
Seriously, video game fantasy needs to move away from elves and dwarves and orcs. It does not matter how the games intend to put a spin or create some variations of those familiar creatures. They have been overdone and overused in video games.

Hell, I'm like you- I'm sick of zombie games(also horde/survival modes).
But others do like them. So let them have it. If they keep being made, its cause there's a market for it.
For example, I love RPGs with elves, dragons, etc etc etc. So I want more of them.
Its all about personal taste.

What matters is whether the author has an original take on the conventions of the genre, whether he is able to breathe life into the world with believable and compelling characters.
The clichéd aspect evident in many fantasy books usually results from characters and interpersonal conflict that are simply not compelling enough, reliance on shortcuts of the genre, etc.

You humans are all racist!
... ok, that was out of a generic sci-fi universe now, I apologize.
Question: Have you played the Gothic series? No elves and it sounds like you might like their take on fantasy.
As for KoA: I am looking forward to the demo. For this game, I am really happy they have one because I am very uncertain about it. The fact that you get ME3 items doesn't hurt but I am not sure I even want to use cross IP gear. Let's see how well the items will fit into the ME3 universe on their own.
But KoA could either be ingenious or really bad, I really don't have a good take on it. IMO much depends on the story and onto how annoying the comic look is gonna be. Going to play the demo on the weekend, then I'll know more.

I can't wait for the demo on Tuesday. Hopefully it kicks butt. The demo is character creation and 45 minutes of game time. I don't know if the character creation cuts into the 45 minutes though.
How do we get the demo? Through Origin?
