So, other than the bit of demo I played yesterday I know very little about this game, however said demo did make me more interested than I thought it would.

My question: Playing the demo it seemed like making a magic/stealth or magic/warrior hybrid would be quite feasible - is this the case? Or is it spreading my skills too thin? I'm never sure whether games like this are designed around the player specialising or not.

Any advice would be welcome.

The game rewards you for doing just about any combination at all.

Even spreading your points through all three trees(Might/Finesse/Sorcery) gets you rewarded with the Jack of All Trades Destinies.

I plan to roll a Finesse/Sorcery build, eventually getting the Shadowcaster Destiny.

You can do some research here-

I looked back over Jack of All Trades and it's actually pretty viable. What with gaining +3 to all skills and unlocking all weapon masteries at the highest tier. Which means, with creative use of your ability points, you can get a pretty impressive list of abilities from the trees you want. It might actually be better than the dual destinies with more versatility than the pure destinies.

Though I'm still going pure Might because that's my play style, I've never been much for rogue and magic abilities.

I'm wary of "jack of all" trade builds. I find myself spreading points to thin and being master of nothing. I'm going to play on the hardest difficulty with my first character and pure builds will most likely be more viable in the long run.

Only thing that sucks about the Jack of All Trades build to me is that you won't have access to some higher tier abilities.

I won't be a Jack of All Trades or a pure build.

I think having a mix of two is better than sticking to one or going for all three.

Played the demo and loved it. Proceeded to Gamestop and dropped $64 on reserving a copy.

I did, but I only put down 5 bucks because I didn't have the funds to fully secure it.

I will though in early February, hopefully before the 7th.

I will. Beginning of every month I get money, and when I get February's chunk I'll finish up my preorder.

The demo seems promising, but I couldn't clik with the combat mechanics (it's too ... button-mashy for my liking). Sad really, I was rather fond of the world and its potential.

Back to Skyrim for the next 3 weeks til ME3 demo.

Reviews are saying that because of the demo, people are thinking the game's combat is all about mindless button mashing, but as you get farther in, the tactics and powers of enemies have you having to be quite tactical in how you approach combat.

I'll take their word for it for now. I need final reviews, first.

I finished the Demo yesteday and got both ME3 unlocks now under ''Your Regristered Game Content'' and i gotta say my view on KoA: Reckoning have changed drastically, i'm pre-ordering the game once i get my next payout. It feels like Dragon Age mixed with god of war style :) and i like it!

Well I think it will be a game worth playing, but Im not that convinced that Im going to preorder it right away. I want to read some reviews and see some high end PC gameplay videos of the released game. Im not going to buy a console game copy for my PC.

Even in the demo, you couldn't get by without dying just by button mashing.

Those flying things, hit me 90% of the time if I tried to button mash and I also missed a number of attacks on them. The Thresher and the giant thing you fight at the end of the tutorial, if I tried to button mash, . Even the Boggarts, if a second one was close, it would hit me before the attack animation after killing the first ended.

Wolves, in packs, with their charge attack... Those are completely too fast to button mash against and are as annoying as the ninja dogs in Ninja Gaiden II.

Yeah, button mashing is NOT the key to success in this game.

You have to know what attacks to use, when to use them, when to dodge and parry, etc etc.

I like it.

For me, smashing the melee button pretty much made every die.  I did use magic here and there, but normally I was all melee smashyness and I never had any trouble.

Also, nice pics, Huntress!
