I was just watching my older brother play the Reckoning demo and I just realized who voices the first fate weaver you meet.

It's John Cygan! He was awesome as Melfice in Grandia II and Solidus Snake in Metal Gear Solid 2.

The demo is really quite buggy so i can only judge from one full demo session but i liked the art style and how colourful the game world was. The combat did very little for me, it starts off far too simple but judging from the video's it gets better as you get stronger.
The two main problems for me are the world and the feel of the game. Even with the heavy mythological influences the world isn't different enough for me to want to explore it and i just didn't enjoy wandering about.

Also it reminds me far too much of Fable, i'm fairly certain that the longsword animations are identical to those in Fable but the whole demo has this Fableish vibe.

I doubt that i'll get it at launch but in a month or three, maybe.

I knew  culdn't be the only one to make the Fable connection from the demo, and that is not a good thing.  All they needed was handholding for there to be a copyright lawsuit.

So what? As long as it's fun who cares what it 'feels like". Fable hate, I just really don't understand it.

Two weeks to go, countodwn starts now:O

Yes, he also voiced Canderous. I don't remember much about KOTOR other than I had fun and I beat it but the thing with Juhani didn't work out for me. And that I hate Carth and the guy that voices him and Jennifer Hale did an awesome job as Bastila Shan. I don't remember who Canderous was or what he looked like.

I really don't get how it's anything like Fable. Artstyle I guess but everything else there is no connection.

I was browsing the forums and saw that they have already made tweaks to the camera since the demo came out...for anyone that had complaints about it.

If interested in this game you might want to check out their forums...

All of the character animations are the same, the artstyle as well as the graphcs are similar as well. If you liked Fable then thats your deal. When I first heard about this game, it looked like it was going the direction of a serious dark fantasy, but the juvenile feel of Fable is clearly deep inside this game's core. Not what I expected it to be at all.

I don't like Fable but still. Animations and graphics asides from the demo I felt it plays nothing like a Fable game. I have talents, skills, weapons to master and most of all I can mix and match classes (fates) unlike Fable you just level up all your abilites to max and there isn't much of a loot system to speak of.

So does the game have a casual feel to it? I tried to download the demo the other day but it was missing from XBL...at least in the UK.

It did feel casual, to me.

Or well, it's a game that's not to be taken absolutely seriously, but rather as a light fantasy one, with lots of content and a big map to journey til the end.

It actually does seem to have an end, or well, the hardest, most dark areas. Unlike Oblivion and the likes.

If casual = easy, then hell no, it is not easy.  You have to know what you're doing or else, you will die.  Block, parry, and dodge are your friend.  Some attacks require you to pause after hitting the attack button, you won't be able to execute those just by mashing buttons.  And the pause attacks can be executed at any point during a combo, they don't have to be in the beginning.

Abilities are awesome.  You got sustained abilities like Envenomed edge.  You got 9 classes of weapons: Sceptres, Staves, Chakram, Dagger, Fae Blade, Bow, Hammer, Greatsword, and Longsword.  Split by Magic, Finesse, and Might respectively with 3 for each class.

It's got Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Sagecrafting as its gathering and assembly skills.  Weapons and armor require two parts, and each type has 3 optional parts you can equip them with.  For example: for swords and greatswords you need the respectively blade and hilt parts and there's different types of each, some give elemental properties and others just increase the types of damage the weapons do.

Well I'm glad to know that combat isn't simple but this has got me worrying:

http://www.lazygamer...e-installeddev/

It's not a big deal but I've never had to install another game before just to get it to load quicker. I hope this game doesn't have massive loading times because Two Worlds 2 didn't and it had a better graphical engine and the world is probably around the same size too.

So long as that loading is for dungeons, I couldn't care but if the game has long loading when running about the in the main world, that will get annoying.

I saw a video of some people playing on a Xbox 360 and the loading time was for entering and exiting buildings and fast travelling, any time there was a loading screen it took quite a bit of time to load. But there was no loading while they were running around and fighting battles.

Oh, in the link you posted, they link to a Q&A they did and I found this question particularly interesting and enlightening:

· What kind of visual influence has Todd McFarlane brought to the project? He’s more well-known for his work on the gritty, Spawn Comics and his uniquely dark design but the fantasy genre is a relatively new field for him to explore.Todd has been vital to the development of the visuals of Reckoning. He meets with the art team over video conference on a regular basis, where a camera in his studio focuses on a screen where he draws critiques of our work and shows us how to improve it. The fantasy genre wasn’t a big leap for him, either. When an artist is as accomplished at his or her craft as Todd, it’s easy to take lessons from one genre into another. If I could take you on a tour of the world of Reckoning, I would be able to point out constant areas where his input is evident. He’s helped us envision and execute on some of our most epic moments of the game, while also adding feedback to much more subtle elements of the world that has guided our approach to things like how we add a weathered appearance to cobblestone roads. Also, despite our lush palette in many parts of the game, we have many moments of foreboding and darkness, something Todd revels in.

I decided to check some more things out in the demo, like how high of a level I could get to and I only reached level 4 with only being about 50% of the way to 5. Anyway, I had found 3 pieces to an armor set and wanted to share it.

I'm still scratching my head over that one. I guess maybe some similarities artistically but that's about it. Storywise...completely different styles. Gameplay...a three skill tree system with Amalur being more indepth plus the crafting stuff which I haven't gotten into yet. Deeper than the DA skill tree system as well.

Not sure what the definition of casual is but it looks like this game could be as casual or as deep as you want it. Not really a steep learning curve but it can get deep with character builds and such.

The art style reminds me of Fable, and minor things like the swimming and dive spots.

Thats it. And I like it, because Fable is something I'm fond of.

O seems it was posted. Just woke up  I don't have the room to install any games so I'll just put up with the long ass load times.

I got the demo and have to say i felt the game seems rather shallow. I am going to wait on this one. See if there is a good story or if it is just a God of War with an RPG coat on.

Yea, you said it. Some people just saw the character design and said "OMG IT"S A FABLE CLONE" I haven't played it yet but even by watching the gameplay videos I can tell that is nothing like Fable(and it does in fact have far more depth)

Exactly, and your choices during quests is supposed to have an overall affect on the game world. I'm just reporting that, that is what the developers are saying.

I hope that when you go to a fateweaver to reset your allocated points that it also gives you back the three automatically spent during the beginning phase of the game.

I'm pretty sure it does. At least, I remember hearing something like that on one of the demos I watched.
