What? I have to sign up just to download the House of Valar faction and quests? This guild was announced months back last year when the game was still being developed and it's obviously on the disc. This is even more annoying than what EA did with DA1, DA2 and ME2 with the small bonuses that you needed to sign up to download. God forbid that you purchase a second hand copy and you'll never experience what should already be on disc.
Overreacting you say? We get plenty of content anyways? Well when plenty of other big RPG's release all content on disc and don't release it on day one alongside the game, I don't see myself as overreacting. I suppose it's not THAT much of a big deal but if Dark Souls, The Witcher 2, Two Worlds 2, War in The North and Divinity 2 can be released without DLC being held back, then why can't this be the same for Amalur? The official site listed the House of Valar as a faction for months and now it's revealed that you can only access them with the bonus code?
Yes, I am jelly EA. You're trolling me. I've nothing against BHG or 38 studios but this seriously makes me consider if this Amalur is worth a purchase anyway seeing as a lot of content is being withheld. This isn't the first thing that the developers have been subtle with either. They said that the game's long loading time was originally due to the game being a beta build but the latest news has spoken against that. They say the game's bugs aren't as major as they were in the demo version but where have we heard that before? With Dragon's Dogma coming out two months later, I might as well get that and then wait for the inevitable Amalur Destiny Edition which includes all DLC and expansions that releases next year.
What gets me is that the developers were boasting that they were gamers making games for gamers but this doesn't seem like such a studio. Larian Studios is a developer who are gamers making games for gamers. This on the otherhand just smells of greed all over.
