Goddamn. I don't know about THAT. Course, I don't have the game yet(will pick it up in a few hours), but by playing the demo I didn't think the game would ever get a perfect score.

G4 reviews the game and it's scores 2.5/5 that's a low score, so here's the link http://www.g4tv.com/...ckoning/review/.
I would say that is a highly biased reviewer there. He gave Skyrim 5/5 with all it's bugs, blandness and wonky combat system...yet he's nitpicking depth in Reckoning.

Adam Sessler is hit and miss on his reviews.
I always liked Sessler. Seemed like the only person worth anything on G4 as for the review itself well I don't know not like I bought it waiting on an sale for it eventually.

Skyrim has plenty of depth and weight in its storytelling, its only really lacking in character interaction, and its had no significant ongoing bugs apart from the PS3 save game bug. Early on KOA appears to be shallow in every aspect of the story and characters and Sessler has played the game right through.

SESSLER is a good dude. ME fans gotta respect him for recking Fox News on his show after the ME1 sex report happened and Geoff Keighley got unfairly handicapped.

Played for a bit, combat feels a little tighter control wise compared to the demo. Got all the DLC gear from the demo now..... it's all Might based though so can't use it as I'm playing a finesse character.

You didn't get the daggers or faeblades? I think there was a bow too. I got my game copy from Amazon though so maybe I have different stuff than you.

Ya I just played the demo I didn't pre-order from anywhere, but as I said getting it $10 off was a nice trade for that. Oh ya there was a Chakram in the gear also I can give those a try later.

Skyrim has very little depth...and the ES series hasn't evolved much at all. They still use the same awful combat system they've been using for ten years or so now. Only thing different between Oblivion and Skyrim is the setting. The only way an ES game is really playable is if you mod it. Talking vanilla games here...Skyrim is pure suck and definitely nowhere near a perfect 5.

I was actually disappointed initially, but eventually pinned it down to having to replay the area available in the demo. Once I got into new territory, my enthusiasm for the game returned. If only I don't have to work next day ...
Skyrim has been sitting pretty on my HDD for the last week and is set to be ignored for a couple of months since ME3 is coming out on the heels of KoA.
Just hit Level 10 with my female redhead dusky skinned Dokkalfar, she unlocked Arcanist (Tier 3 Finess/Sorcery) at Level 9. Warlock (Tier 4) will only unlock at Level 16 earliest. (Really had to resist playing her straight Finess; I'm reserving that for a Varani charactor).
As per my revised build, she uses Sorcery at range and Finess up close
1) Long range: Storm Bolt (Lightning)
2) Mid range: Mark of Flame (Fire)
3) Short range: Shadow Flare (Piercing / Bleeding)
4) Melee: Faeblades (Physical / Piercing)
She does equip a Sceptre, but probably used it for like 2% of enemies, since I am overly enthusiatic in having her tumble into mobs in a spinning blur of blades.
I think I pushed her too fast so she ending up dying often when fighting Ettins and Trolls past Arden's Hut (plus I was stingy with my potions). Did manage to find a replacement for my long-serving Faeblade of Songs while stalking trolls, a green faeblade with no fancy mods but same physical damage and double piercing damage.
Armor-wise, I'm still stuck mostly with the pre-order bonus set armour (IMO, the bonus set mage robe is UGLY! I wish I could have found the set mage robe from my last demo run which IMO looks really nice) Besides the Selkie Veil, I did dig up a blue pair of mage shoes.
Sleepy, I need a nap at least (debating whether to set my alarm for one hour).

No need for that, I think KOA is an enjoyable game it just doesn't offer much beyond that.

The combat is praised by most but when I think RPG, I think story, characters and choices and Reckoning is said to be lacking in those according to a few.
Are these statements true?

I hear the story isn't good and that the side quests simply consist of "go here, collect this, kill this and return" which sounds bad to me. After watching a few videos, I've seen much of this in several side quests. I also swear that some of the dungeons/caves look the same.

Reviews I have seen have stated there are a number of more original style side missions than simply kill X number or fetch missions.

I don't care if side quests feel the same, the combat is enough for me to feel enjoyment throughout the game.

And the crime system. I don't really care for that in RPG's because they are so badly implemented. If no one is about to see me, there shouldn't be a percentage of someone spotting me. On the plus side at least the entire town didn't riot when I killed a chicken(like they do in Skyrim).
Repetition is pretty much a staple in the majority of RPG's...so that's just nitpicky. Unless we are talking Dragon Age which is a more linearized RPG.

Wow, exaggerate much? You might not like the game, which is all well and good. But making such outrageous claims like the game has "very little depth", or that the only difference between Oblivion and Skyrim is the setting, is absolute bollocks.
I think Morroian is right: I don't think you've really sat down and played the game. I also get the feeling that you already made up your mind about the game before it even came out. No one could take such blind hate seriouly.
