I used to play Skyrim.... but the game just couldn't keep me interested... then it shot an arrow into my knee.

Actually, I've been keeping an eye on this thread because I'm interested in this game, and wanted to hear what people had to say about it.

But you can continue behaving like a child if you wish. I'll get back to reading the reviews wolfsite posted and consider buying the game.

To me so far KoA is a good dungeon crawl game with some pretty good art and combat. Nothing ground breaking story or immersion wise it has about as much depth as the original Fable. I'd give it a 8.5/10 so far. My gf adores the game more than Skyrim so far. I found it a bit worse. YMMV. I'd say an underrated quality of the game is its voice acting.

I played the demo for Amalur and it just felt too cartoony for my tastes. I hope it does well but Skyrims more adult setting is more my cup of tea.

Skyrim has very little depth...and the ES series hasn't evolved much at all. They still use the same awful combat system they've been using for ten years or so now. Only thing different between Oblivion and Skyrim is the setting. The only way an ES game is really playable is if you mod it. Talking vanilla games here...Skyrim is pure suck and definitely nowhere near a perfect 5.

Wow, exaggerate much? You might not like the game, which is all well and good. But making such outrageous claims like the game has "very little depth", or that the only difference between Oblivion and Skyrim is the setting, is absolute bollocks.

I think Morroian is right: I don't think you've really sat down and played the game. I also get the feeling that you already made up your mind about the game before it even came out. No one could take such blind hate seriouly.

Amen, stop filling this thread with hate.

Well it looks like  I wont' be getting Amalur on the 9th:pinched: Last I checked, the tracking told me it was in another state and the 9th is tomorrow.
I'm tired of waiting, I wanna play it now:crying:

Wait... I did redeem the code for the Valor questline and I did download it, so why does the game tells me that I still have to purchase and download it through the main menu? I'm a bit confused. I got the pre-order code too and got a bunch of bonus equipment at the first village.

Also, what are in the three item DLCs? Stat wise, etc.

Really enjoying the game so far. I have tried my hand with some House of Ballads quests and the starting Warsworn quest. I have my first house as well, Gossamer End in...Er...Cannaroc or something like that? I was originally going to go faeblades and scepters, but those chakram are too sweet. Mountain trolls, despite having roughly the same move set as the first troll you fight, are beasts. One hit to my disciple drains half my health bar. Anyone know a faster way to deal with trolls beyond run and gun?

What item DLCs? The only one I recieved was the Fate-Touched weapons pack from preordering from Gamestop and the Shepard armor (Still waiting for the damn ME3 demo to claim my omni-blade daggers). The Fate-Touched weapons are pretty cool. They are ultimately weak, as in you find better stuff by level five or so at the latest, but it does give you early access to each of the weapon types in game so you can determine what you like better before you really start putting points in the weapon skills. The Shepard armor kind of sucks because you need points in Might to wear it. My first character is going rogue/mage hybrid (Like so many other people) because I just love stealth kills and chakram fights.

Edit: And a Twist of Fate card called Confidence or something like that. It gives you a 5% boost to fire and ice resistance.

Try piercing damage and stuning trolls, they seems resistant to all kinds of elemantal damage, and they dont get very slowed by cold damage.

Just atttack a few times(just finish 1 combo) and when they strike ,not before because they can predict where you land, roll forward.
If you attack form range dont bothe with charging attacks just shoot&roll.

My only problematic oppenents are that tree thingys. If i cannot open with backstab they give me hell on earth.

BTW Amalur's monster desings are terrific, fought a female undead thingy yesterday and that poison spiiting thing (im really bad with names) Those 2 did make me forget how "shiny&caroonish" games graphics are.

You mean the Threshes? Yeah, that continuous root attack sucks.

And yeah, the monster designs are crazy. I have to give props to McFarlane for that. You are talking about that thing with the arms and the barbed tail that spits out those homing poison clouds? I fought one near the Webwood along with a couple of those giant spiders.

Yup Threshes,  i really sont want to mess with the unless needed :)

And yup that thing (cant believe how bad i am with names...) Yellow named one are not much of a problem but orange named one in a cave gave me quite a beating :) I just hate when mobs have better poison attacks than mine.

Edit:BTW im holding myself for not to create a dark elven character using Faeblades named Illidian...

 G4 reviews the game and it's scores 2.5/5 that's a low score, so here's the link http://www.g4tv.com/...ckoning/review/.

I would say that is a highly biased reviewer there. He gave Skyrim 5/5 with all it's bugs, blandness and wonky combat system...yet he's nitpicking depth in Reckoning.

I guess it's all opinion.

I had weeks/months of 5/5 enjoyment of Skyrim. Alhough it tailed off into listlessness and ennui rather than reaching a definitive and punchy conclusion - as sandbox games will, I wouldn't really change a thing about the time I played it.

On the other hand I found Kingdoms of Amalur's demo irritating to play through, and only got through on my second attempt - I disliked most aspects of the gameplay and was in no way gripped by story, so that review would probably be spot-on useful for me.

:)

He wasn't supposed to be reviewing the demo. I think he was just being an ass because he didn't get an exclusive from them.

Can anyone please tell me whether it is possible to configure the keyboard keys as we wish? In demo, it didn't allow to configure movement keys and mouse buttons. Is this fixed in the retail version?

Thi is not meant as a criticism of the game, just some personal perspective as why I choose not to play.

While I like the rules design that I have seen, it came down to my reaction of watching gameplay from E3 In some other past games, I could not take my eyes away, and often found myself digging for hidden nuggets of info, and sharing these vids with others. However in this instance, I quit while halfway thru the second part of three; simply did not capture my interest, and appeared to present style over substance.

FWIW; hope I am wrong.

I am glad I ordered from Gamestop. The three armors are pretty sweet, I actually like the way the might armor looks, and it has better stats than the Shepard armor as far as I am concerned. The twist of fate card also gives a 2% experience increase.

I chose no deity so I get a total of 3% more experience. It's a shame hard doesn't give you any more experience points.

So, this just popped in on IGN Entertainment's youtube page; The shepard armor recieved for pre-ordering.

This thing looks silly and out of place, which isn't surprising in the least :P

He didn't just slam the game he clearly articulated his issues with it (and they are the same issues I and others have with it). Do you think every reviewer is supposed to agree with you?

That's some badass looking armor.

I read some review today which praised the game's background and story about how you're a hero who is free from fate and that the narrative behind the story is actually pretty good.

Here it is:

http://www.theglobea...article2330875/

I'll be trying this game some day but I've got so much to play and when I'm finished, I think Dragon's Dogma will be out which I'm more interested in more than this game simply due to the companions and combat.
