Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. An rpg worth keeping your eye on.

I put a lot into this game and throughly explored all over. Almost to Alabastra. It's been a long journey, and I think soon it may be time to end it. The writing is solid, the story is ok. Not stellar by any means, and there are flaws, but combat has been fun and I love looting and exploring. Not near the greatness of TES for me, but a good game nonetheless, with its own charm.
Friggin fun. I played on and off as a filler game for the most part but I can easily go 8 / 10 with it. Very, very few bugs I've encountered, and for its scale that's impressive. Maybe the laid off team of testers....should be hired by Bethesda.
All I need are the gauntlets to get the Bolgan Bane set with good stats and sweet design.

I haven't played the game since...well, 4 months ago apparently. *judging by my posts in this thread*
Didn't go for those last three achievements, I just stopped playing it.
Great game though. Wish someone competent would pick up the IP and continue it.
Same here. It wasn't perfect but I thought it was a great game, I really enjoyed it.
Plus, NEEDS MORE ALYN SHIR

Yes...for sure. Dude...you and I could TOTALLY do that. The rest of the world will be counting on us to make this game. Can you handle that kind of pressure?

I'm 125 hours in and have all sidequests done in the whole game except three in Klurikon. I didn't do the Scholia Arcana or Travellers, being I'm a warrior archetype in my role playing, but I did the Warsworn and Summer and Winter Fae guilds. I'm a level 35 Slayer with just one point away from being a Blademaster.
That seems... a touch low to me. My character's a level 37 (more than half way to 38) assassin and I haven't even advanced the main story to Mel Senshir yet (although I'm pretty close to getting there now). Did you do both DLCs yet?

No I didn't do the dlcs. I prob got less XP then you because I don't fast travel and often run past combat encounters while moving.

Ah. I did both DLCs already, so this is likely the difference.

This makes little sense to me. I fast travel a lot (so miss out on the respawning encounter XPs). If you don't fast travel and 'often' run past encounters, it still implies that you do engage in some of them, so by inference, you'd be getting more XP than someone that fast travels a lot. No big deal though, just an observation.

It's probably the dlcs. I heard they are both good. Are they still available?
Sorry for the late reply. Yeah, you can still pick up the DLCs from various vendors (Origin store and I believe Gamergate also sells them).
Anyway, I just completed the game and after 109 hours, I must say I got more than my money's worth. I played an assassin character with almost all my points in the Finesse tree (I think I had only 5 or 6 elsewhere). This game was a blast. A really good action RPG with a surprising amount of lore put into the game world and the storyline isn't actually that bad either.
Obviously, it's not a perfect game, but it's more than well worth the 15 or so bucks I paid for it. Shame 38 Studios went belly up. It would have been insteresting to see what they did with the franchise.

It's not a perfect replica but I downloaded this armor mod for a game just to see the work done and put a pic up. BTW that is not my charactor in that game, but an NPC follower.

In more related news, sounds like Epic's attempt to keep some of the Amalur team together has been for naught as Impossible Studios (the outfit they put the people in) is being let go.

her favorite combo was Shadow Snare > Ice Bullet > Harpoon > Quake, then finish off with melee.
great game, i called it "Techni-Color Skyrim"
there were several non-quest related armor sets i had hoped to complete- but i only managed to get all of the Perfidous armor set. i had to sell alot of uncompleted armor sets to make room.
nearing the end of the game, i had so much gold 5mil+ i unbound my fate, and went around to all the trainers to get those skill points. Blacksmithing was maxed as it stole a point from Dispelling [what a useless mechanic], and everything else was one-shy from max-- though the +3 points to everything ala the Universalist was nice too.

But then I saw the prices... I got DE: Human Revolution for 3$ off Steam, but KoA:Reckoning costs 60 EUR with all the DLCs????
Or am I getting something wrong there?

Didn't fire up KoA:R recently only because I know I'll get re-fixated on my redheaded darkskinned Dokkalfar Shadowcaster. I would love to put her in the green Silvanite Armor (the Prismere Armor is just too unslightly for my taste) but I refuse to respec her as anything other that Sorcery-Finesse.

Yeah, it feels like a mix of an MMO and Skyrim, but really, it's all rather tastefully done.
Bit generic, but:
- open world
- faction quests (5 of them, 3 I've been doing so far have had decent story lines, can't complain)
- housing
- character build is interesting
- combat is decent
All in all, for a debut (and sadly the last game by the studio), I think it's very, very good (so far).
