Where does the JE:SE save your character files on your PC?

The save folder in the Program Files is empty and I would like to back up my characters.

Have you any in-game saves already?
If not then that explains its emptyness.
Also be advised that in game save file deletion deletes the game save from the Jade Empire save folder.
If you do have game saves and yet they are not in the folder, make sure you didn't select them to become hidden in the save folder's properties tab.
Control Panel>Folder Options>View
Tick:"Show hidden files and folders"
And see if they show up then. Untick their hidden attribute box on the folder properties page and apply to all. Then re-enable hidding the hidden files if you want.
To backup the JE save folder just copy it and paste it as a "New Folder" into the JE directory.
If not then that explains its emptyness.
