I tried to search for this on the forums but had no luck.  Hopefully I'm not posting a second thread on this topic.

Problem:
The storage chest at soldier's peak seems to randomly change the level of items stored inside.  I recently retired Dar'Misu which used to be tier 4 - 1 rune slot in favor of a new dagger.  I went to the box today and it turned into a T5 with 2 slots!  And then i started to look harder and I saw that a generic T7 dragonbone armor dropped to T5!  I went to party camp to switch out guys and a couple load screens later, Dar'Misu is now T6 silverite and the armor dropped to T4. 

I thought this box was supposed to keep my stuff safe!?

Haha, you made me laugh  Unfortunately, I do not know what's the issue here, but have you tried dowloading storage chest addon from here? While it's not the solution, its a good alternative.

I thought I was the only one who noticed this. I wouldn't mind it if it upgraded stuff but when it downgrades stuff its annoying.

I had the same thing happen to my Warden's Armor. I put two of the pieces in, and when I got them back they were much higher level, my companions couldn't equip them. I haven't experienced the downgrading though. Was it a unique item or just standard, that may account for the difference but that is just speculation.

Yep.. I too noticed this.. All items seem to randomly switch tiers. My wardens armor is all different tiers now that it's been in the box. At first it went down a bit but as I've raised levels it seems to go up. The armor piece is now dragonbone but the rest of the items are all silverite and I'm at level 21 I'm hoping they all go up to dragonbone but who knows.. you would think at level 21 they would be.

Well all the "storage chest" is is a vendor that buys and sells everything for 0 gold, so of course stuff will get random tier changes like they do at other vendors. Still worth a fix, we can sell stuff to the dwarf in our camp to try to upgrade it.

I went to redcliff to store items at the inn on the hill. after the barmaid gave me a heros welcome and it wouldn't stash all the buttons say stash

I think an exponent in the program is recalculating the tier numbers as as it counts basic items that you use them. I brougth a gift diamond in the underground dwarf kingdom for my golem. it was called a remarkable diamond and I had a regular diamond in my inventory guess what when I added it to my inventory it morf into a regular gem no more gift so the golem didn't recieve it.

At least you have all your gear......because of the patch from today, my entire party storage chest is wiped clean of everything I had in there since the beinning of the game. Needless to say, I'm not pleased with BioWare's "support" right now.
