Is there any way to enforce the original xp cap in a ToB game?

I don't like my solo characters becoming too strong and hitting the cap in SoA, and having nothing to work towards in ToB. I am aware I could simply opt not to level up, but I like having something to look forward to when my character gets carried over to the expansion.

Currently, the only alternative for me is to uninstall everything, install SoA, solo through the game, then install ToB after completing SoA, but it is troublesome.

Thanks. :)

It's possible to set different xp caps for the SoA and ToB sections of the game but I don't know off-hand how to do it.

If I was you I'd just not click 'level up' once you get 2.95 M xp in SoA then use the console to set your xp back to 2.95 M at the start of ToB so you have to gain the xp again (this is what you want, right?).

I agree with touch-of-the-void about the easiest solution. If you do want a different approach you could try the Stage-Based XP cap mod
http://www.pocketplane.net/zyraen
Alternatively if you want a bit more challenge use Ding0's XP Fixer to reduce the XP you earn in the first place.

How do I go about using the console to reduce xp? I am currently soloing a berserker through the game (lv10 atm) so this should hopefully do the trick.

Thanks again!

The command you'd want is

CLUAConsole:SetCurrentXP("2950000")

note for those of you new to the console, this command will set your XP level = 2,950,000 (which is considerably more than a level 10 anything).  All the command does is set the numerical value of the highlighted character(s) XP.  If you have already leveled beyond that (e.g. level 22 as a fighter), reducing your XP will NOT reduce your level, remove your THACO and saving throw gains, etc.  ALL it will do is change the numerical value of your XP, meaning it would just take longer to get to level 23 in this example.

So if you don't want your character to level past a 19-level fighter, just don't click the level up button after that.

When you go into TOB, if you don't want to keep your extra XP, use the command above to set it to the SOA xp cap.  if you do want to keep the extra XP, you can then level up the rest of that XP.
