K, I'd really like one strong answer instead of getting different opinions.

What do I have to do before Fenris comes to my house after the Bitter Pill? I was almost max rivalry with him and had been using the flirting options. He told me "It's better for both of us if I do" when I asked him not to leave. Loads of people seem to be saying he comes back to the Hawke estate after you visit somewhere else then return (someone said this must be done from the Night City Map). I've been going back and forth between saves, trying all the stupid suggestions I've dug up online and still that stinky elf hasn't come back.

I hadn't seen his chat with the mabari before this and I'm hoping that isn't the cause.
I also hadn't yet talked to the Arishok at all - just done that now hoping maybe certain main plots need to be further along.

Basically I've heard the following conflicting tips:

- Some say you have to be max rivalry, others say not so

- Some say you have to tell him you aren't going to go straight to the holding caves so you can go get the 'Questioning beliefs' thingie. Thing is I'd already had a Questioning belief quest with him during Act 2 so unless there is some other one that's supposed to show after you tell him to wait then... I'm confused. Because I told him to wait and then checked at his mansion to see he hadn't got another Q.B.

- Some say you shouldn't sleep with Isabella, others say it doesn't matter if you tell her it is for fun.

Ah, now I've forgot the rest. I've been at this a couple hours (yup, I'm stubborn).

I had this problem at 100% friendship and had to restart the whole of Chapter 2. Very tedious!

To be on the safe side, do not flirt with anyone else in Chapter 2, prior to doing his quest. (I screwed up because I made a flirty comment to Isabela when I gave her the model ship, I think).

When you do Fenris' Beliefs quest, do make sure you use every opportunity to flirt with him as this opens up a dialogue where he implies he wishes there could be more between him and Hawke.

You should complete QB and not sleep with any other members of the party, fun or not. Max Rivalry is not required (I definitely din't have it in my Rivalry Fenris Romance, it was more like 60%).

I've seen people swear that they were able to flirt and even bed Isabella.

You can but it's buggy and if you really want to romance him you're better off not doing it.

I can't recall how I did it but I did bed Izzy first then Fenris. My issue is I was trying to romance her then Merrill. Flirted with Fenris afew times and he left (like he's supposed to) went flirting with Merrill went back home and he was there.  Ended up reloading, not flirting with Merrill went back home and got with Fenris.

I am so not up for redoing the freaking Act. Do we know for certain it is buggy? Like, have the devs acknowledged there's a problem?

No they haven't. *shrugs* You could try and if it doesn't work just stick with Izzy.

On average thoughthe only LIs you can safely sleep with other people before tend to be everyone *but* Fenris.

I'm not going for Izzy. I'll just have to skip Fenris and go with Anders. Plan was to go Isabella (fun) -> Fenris (semi serious) -> Anders (aw shucks fo real). You know, for the dramaz.

I've been flirting with everyone so this sounds like a glitch waiting to happen for me. Can it be fixed by using the approval debugger in the developer console?

Don't know that this is "definitive," but I did some testing with sleeping with Izzy during my second Fenris romance PT. Sleeping with her definitely "broke" my romance with Fenris (IIRC, I didn't even get the romance dialog options during QB, which I did right after as a check). It seems that only Merrill and Anders are the romance juggernauts who keep coming back no matter what you've done (the Isabela FAQ has something on this, referencing something Mary Kirby said about their intentions).

If you definitely did QB during Act 2 and THEN did Bitter Pill, his nighttime visit to your house about Hadriana should be the booty call (you tell him not to go and grab his arm, sexy time ensues). If you tell him to go, he'll come back and say he can't stop thinking about you, blah, blah, sexy time. If you do Bitter Pill THEN QB, then he just leaves after nite time Hadriana discussion, but then comes over after QB with the "can't stop thinking of you" bit. So, all the stuff you've already read, but that was also my experience with both friendmance/rivalmance above 50% (close to 100%, but I believe it's just supposed to be higher than 50%).

FWIW, I would be annoyed, too! Who wants to have to metagame this sort of thing!

I should write a faq..

In order to trigger Fenris's romance scene you have to have to have to do the following things.

1. Make sure you are 50% Friendship or Rivalry (F/R bonus ACTIVE). This will trigger his QB for the act.

2. DO his QB FIRST, before you do his "A Bitter Pill".

3. You MUST flirt with him during his QB and ask him ABOUT sexytimes. He'll agree to try it, but "maybe another time."

4. THEN, go do his "A Bitter Pill" Personal quest. At said end of quest he'll either stay or go. If you did his QB first, and he goes (or you purposely let him go), the next time you return home at night it'll trigger the "No Glow" scene.

now.. things that can mess this up.

1. Occasionally sleeping with Bela will make him not trigger his romance. Its iffy, and personally I've only been able to do it one time. Best bet is, to save bela for later (remember if you sleep with her, or any one else later the Fenmance ends) or just not at all.

2. Sleeping with Anders OR Merrill will pretty much guarantee that he'll never ever ever ever ever sleep with you ever. Ever. Ever ever. The end.

Remember. 50% for QB. Flirt every chance you get. QB first. Bela's sometimes a ****block. Anders/Merrill is ALWAYS a ****block.

Those are both bugs. I've had the first, where I had to use the console to remove isabelas romance flag. Sleeping with anders is supposed to be possible since the two of them will argue over it. Or is it only Fenris then Anders, not other way?

Only the Fenris then Anders way. (at least that's what the banter says).

Flirting with Anders or Merril during Act 1 is safe. Flirting with Anders or Merrill in Act 2 before completing Fenris' QB is safe.

Flirting with Isabela at any point prior to bedding Fenris will kill Fenris's romance forever.

Bedding ANYBODY before consummating the romance with Fenris will kill the romance forever.

On my most recent PT, my Hawke flirted with everybody it was possible to flirt with during Act 1 (there are no heart options in Act 1 at all for Isabela, oddly enough). He bedded Fenris then flirted with and bedded Isabela. After that, he bedded Merrill and dumped her immediately afterward, never letting her move in. He then flirted with, had sex with, and moved in with Anders. So yes, it is possible to do all 4 in the same PT, but the order you approach them is important.

Hmm, is this so? Last time I played with doing it both ways, QB before and after Bitter PIll, and still got the sexytime. Doing it after just meant that after his nighttime visit after Hadriana, he left, then came back the night after flirting during QB. Or is this a bug? For both I was at 100%, tho.

I've never been able to get sexy times if I don't have his QB done before his personal quest. The only time I got the non-glowy scene (By accident rather then just letting him leave) was when I flirted with Bela something feirce, and then when she came to the house I was all, "Na its k not actually into chicks."

I did that Before doing Fen's quests. Then when I did them he was all "no its better if I just go"... and then he came back later. Probably because he'd heard rumors (damn you bela!) that we'd beded, even when we hadn't ;p

If it works, then awesome. I've just never been able to make it work. The Final flirt never triggers durring his qb when I do it after his Bitter pill quest. Thus, I always advise doing it first.

You can sleep with Fenris then move on to Anders. But you can't sleep with Fenris, move on to Anders and trying to complete a romance with Fenris. Fenris wanted no part of it during my first playthrough. Flirting or romancing Isabela is buggy.

Step 1.Flirt with no one, since Act 1 Flirting really leads nowhere.
Step 2. Flirt with Sebastian.
Step 3. Flirt with Fenris and Finish Bitter Pill
Step 4. Go to your house.
Step 5. ????
Step 6. Fornication
...
Step 253. Live in Starkhaven's Castle with Fenris.

Maybe in your playthrough, Fenris had heard that you caught an STD from Isabela, and so he has silently decided to wait until Anders heals the STD away from you before sexytimes?

RATS! I thought I'd be okay since I knew Anders would end it after killing him in the Fade. Now Fenris it like, I'm not touching that after HE touched that.

Lol Heiden... I support the FAQ!!

Another thing. Flirting with Izzy in her act 2 before doing the Fenris romance does break it. The way you sleep with her is to get her to your house/sexytimes with just that QB dialogue and no previous act 2 flirts. Even then it can be buggy.

If Fenris leaves he does come back later at night, but go do a quest or something. I usually do Fenris's QB then A bitter pill -- send him away post Hadrianna.. then do a quest or two then come back home at night and he is there. It only requires flirting in QB all the way to "id be willing" and provided you didn't flirt someone up to get their romance active (izzy) - he will be fine.

I think he leaves on his own if you don't have enough friend/rival or if you didn't chat him up in QB. If you have done like 4-5I quests and he still hasn't showed then its bugged. You can also try doing a core story quest which sometimes "jumpstarts" the progression.

Basically.. do what Heiden says.. its safe :P.

The easiest and safest route is to just make sure you trigger his QB first. ;p It's the easiest way to tell if you can even have the relationship at all.

Simply put, if the last flirt option isn't available to you, then the romance flags are turned off. That means you did something wrong and need to go back to a previous save ;p
