Dragon Age 2 sucks. Buy New Vegas.

And donate to my 'replace my thumbs' fund, please. Thank you.

I dout Tom Cruise could care less about games and no one is forcing you to read this.

Also Exile. Not sure how many words are in Dragon Age 2.

Around 400k words are in Dragon Age 2.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: A lot of people who were happy with the game stay out of these forums because of the overwhelming negativity in general and the impossibility to post without getting the threads derailed. Same is true for other places of online discussion, where you're as likely to be called a moron, "baby RPG player", n00b and "Bioware employee in disguise" (why that last thing would be bad thing is beyond me though) than to encounter balanced discussion when you talk about your love for DA2. I mostly discuss the game with my friends IRL.

So, to David and the rest: There's a whole bunch of us who love DA2 but rarely post here or elsewhere about it. We're not averse to even more change, but it's a relief to hear you guys stress the fact that you aren't looking to reset all the things you already changed for the better.

Well said. I know of several people who love the game (both in RL and online) who either do not bother with the forums or were chased away/bullied into silence....... People who enjoy the game are actually warned against coming here. Sad, really.

I'd be glad to warn people who hate the game against you too.

Shocking that some of my best BSN friends are very anti-DAII, yet they don't feel the need to turn it into a childish squabble. <_<

Thanks for proving my point though.

It is? Not for me.

It's obvious that DA2 has mistakes in they game design and BW did take short cuts what was seen in the game by players. But wrong direction, I'm not so sure about it.

Also how you know what majority wants? Have you inteviewed all the million of Bioware game buyers?

All i can say is that I've gave my feedback when the game originally came out, both on forums and by writing some people personally. I don't believe in shouting my opinion over and over in the most obnoxious way possible is a good way to do things in general - and frankly, people repeating themselves over and over ad nauseam has been a symptom of these forums for as long as I've been here. Now it's just reached the point that I only read the OP and Bioware posts in most non tech-support threads. I can only assume that a poor signal-to-noise ratio will affect other people, as well.

I won't even get into the cognitive dissonance of it all. "DA2 went into a casual direction by reusing the same areas". :P

I hated DA2.
It's going to take a lot from BioWare if they want me to buy a DA3. It has to be much better. I don't really care anymore because Mass Effect blows Dragon Age out of the water, and I know that Mass Effect 3 will be better than any future Dragon Age game. Simply because BioWare refuse to pick a main character to play.

Anyway, thanks for admitting that all the problems weren't just percieved.

It all ain't about you. While sometimes appearing to be as dense as a Death Star, even you must see the numerous threads of DA2 bashing vs Other Game posted about the Forums.

And I do not have to leave this thread to illuminate imagined wrongdoing; your OP will do fine.

Finally an intelligent person who isn't silly and won't buy ME 3 just because of DA 2 (thats a joke...I realize there are plenty of those people, but still, I'm sick of all the people who are so enraged over DA 2 they feel like they have some personal vendetta against Bioware and must never ever buy any more of there games)

Sigh.

DAO took roughly 5 years to make. DA2 took just over a year? The only cost for a development studio is the money spent in keeping it running and all its employees paid. What part of that comparison is so surprising to you? If you feel that we should have spent more time making the game, that's a reasonable suggestion. My response was regarding the comment that the sales (as in the number of units sold) would be the only takeaway we would listen to-- and I was responding to that only, in that there is far more involved.

If there's any question as to why such discussions can't be reasonably had on forums in the future, this would be an excellent thread to direct them towards.

Clearly 3 years needs to be spent making DA3 to find the sweet spot =p

The dialog/ banter was amazing
the fighting system was amazing and the new animations
Armor looks great
Music was excellent

Hated the reuse of maps
pop in enemies
Cant equip party with armor
Given useless armor you cant were as bonus
Player having no effect on the world or what happens(If BW wants you to do a quest or an event to happen, you can say no, but no one cares)
Choices dont matter (in the end what BW wants to happen happens! You cant save anyone, you will fight both parties, you will do whatever we tell you and if you think your done, your not! "You have more business to do in the city..."

I basically wanted Uncharted 2's level design with BW story/banter/ and RPG as the genre instead of action/platformer. So many times I looked at Uncharted 2 and thought if only BW wasnt lazy and put this much effort into DA2... Like the Ice Caves? Imagine fighting in there with DA2 battle system, but no pop ins! Or any level in UC2! Instead of a cut scene, you have your Dialog happen and choices that actually have an affect unlike in DA2, have the ability to visit any area and have towns on the level of Napal's Streets... If NG and BW could make a love child and that was DA3 or the next DA game...*drools*

Too bad DA-BW cant make a excellent game to save a life. Great story. Gaider's the man and I love his books, but his team can't put the effort in to make the game DA should have. The Witcher 2 was a better example of what DA2 should have been. The world of Two Worlds 2 had a better world made and it blew away DA2's graphics in the world, towns etc, but sadly it was a crap game not worth playing. At least you could ride horses and boats though...

At least DA2 made me want to get in fights. DAO was horrible at them. I guess Id say DA2 was better than DAO. DAO I only did 1 run thru, DA2 I wanted and did 2 (Archer since they were finally did right and Mage my Favorite class). I started a third run but I was honestly done after 2.

Edit: Sorry, I know I sound bitter and I am, but I did have fun in DA2. All the game breaking glitches/ glitches made me dispise the game more than I should. Then the design or lack of game design in DA2 made me question what BW was doing and why they released the game in it's current state... I dont know if I'll buy anymore DA games unless I know there is some major improvements and they regive us our old abilities back like the armor situation.

David I think fan frustration at this point is a result of knowing Bioware is capable of making such a better game than it did. DA2 was a sequel to Origins. Sequels tend to be bigger better, more expansive, perhaps refined games than their predecessors. I don't think it's even possible for you to sit there and say that you honestly think DA2's story was more interesting/involved, it's world more complex/varied, and it's characters more fleshed out than Origins.

Is DA2 a bad game? No not really, it's quite a bit better than most of the garbage that comes out these days. Is it a bad bioware game? Yes, it's awful. People have expectations of sequels and DA2 missed them all.

I still feel it's a bad game. Recycled maps should never happen in 2000 much less 2010-11. But I agree it's more of a horrible BW game than anything else. I already expected DA2 not to be a sequel due to them stated it's not one, but it still hurt to go from what seemed like a world to a garage...

Side note to David that I really want to know, Is there another Dragon Age book/ Audio book coming?
Did you see my fan art pic of you? You know you want it to be your avatar... lol

"Just over a year?" I actually didnt realize that... I would have liked more time dumped into QA for finding bugs, but hearing that, it's kind of impressive. TO make a new story, etc in that amount of time? I wouldnt mind a new DA game each year, but some changes definately have to be made if I were to ever try DA again. Heck, maybe every other year if that would give you guys enough time to make it so you can have your choices matter and have more than 5 levels.

My Perfect DA game as simple as possible:

DA2 fighting system without pop in enemies so strategy is allowed
Ability to equip my party with armor/weapons
All of cast in game (Female Qunari, Female Dwarf, Female Turrian, Female Krogan)
Great story
Choices matter (can say no to quest and not recieve and have to do anyway/ can save family etc, not fight the person you chose to team up with. Ending fights Im talking to you DA2...)
Great banter
Great music and ability to custom soundtrack on PS3
Uncharted 2 level of Level design detail or greater for world
Full customization for character with hair styles/ length, body types
World populated like in the Witcher 2 with people/ objects/ plants etc or better
No game breaking glitches
Finishers
At least 2 endings
My bloody Ice Storm spell back!

Last, for the love of the maker... get rid of your loading!!! any load over 3 sec is TOO LONG! (Have a min load before in the world thats fine, but once the game is runing and your playing, there should be no loading EVER!! Half of the game time is loading or more! DA2/DAO) - look at FF13, Dead Space 2, Uncharted 2 etc

There Dave. Take it to the bank! It may not please everyone, but it would be my perfect game you could give me!

Seriously, Persephone and I don't agree on DA2, but she is smart, savy and her opinions I love to read. She's got a brain, she's well informed and she is one hell of a kick ass lady. I for one, have total girl crush on her, since she talks classic literature.;) You don't like DA2, she does. It's about the game, not her.

And we're locking this thread because it's gone completely off the rails at this point.

A few bans handed out, too. Guess what - insulting other users is against the ToS. Don't mistake the right to criticism with a right to immature vitriol and childish barbs. If you're unable to comport yourself like a rational, civil adult on these forums, then I strongly recommend not posting.
