Is there a glitch on insanity? Im talking about the volcanic hunt one, on the underground one I beat it. with 77 kills and over 7 minutes remaining, but the volcanic one it seems that once I get to the 19-23 kill, it stops giving me time, most kills I can rack up are 26. All other challenges I got first place by a huge difference to the other scores on the monitor, I know there are atleast 3 more locked challenges, but cant do them unless I beat this challenge, but it seems glitch, is that the case? Or what am I doing wrong?
Pinnacle station glitch?

for the volcanic one i remember that was the only simulation i had to restart (hunt on volcanic). for me it wasnt about them not giving me time tho, i couldnt find any enemies in the whole area (they were spawning very slowly).
i do remember they stop giving you time for kills at some point, otherwise you could just go on forever pretty much. (im pretty sure i have the right simulation in mind) what i did was stand on that long bridge that extends from one end to the other. went on the middle in the spot with highest elevation. then from that vantage point just scoped all the enemies as they tried to make their way up. you shouldnt have any problems
also this could be very hard on insanity, i personally did them on veteran so i cant testify to this (just a speculation). but i would imagine it takes you longer to get those kills, knocking it down a little will help you heaps.
*what did aggrivate me is those survival ones. i wasnt sure if you could end the simulation after a certain point and still have it count (there is a console that lets you end simulation). so i would be lasting like 10-15 minutes, then letting shepard get shot up until the sim ended. of course all the survival times to beat are like 1 :30, uggggh. i over quadrouppled like every survival requirement, ahaa

Ill try that that then, but sucks if I have to lower the dificulty as im also trying to get the insanity achivement. Ill do the bridges thing, I do know enemies spawn slow and when they do, they spawn really far apart from each other.

If you're trying for the insanity achievement skip Pinnacle, finishing it won't affect getting the achievement.

Pinnacle Hunt on Insanity is best tackled with a modded Pistol (at least one scram rail) and CONSTANT Master Marksman (requires max Pistols and 2 Medical Exoskeletons)... it's also helpful if you have a Commando or Vanguard bonus.
Otherwise you're screwed and it's down to getting very very lucky.

Oh god I'm trying to do this right now and it's so frustrating.
I thought there must be something wrong with the scenario, and googled my life away. I found this thread on the old bioware forums where a 'Quality Assurance' employee claimed that "Also the time thing is designed to be that way, it actually behaves that way in all the hunt scenarios but since they're much easier you probably would have a hard time noticing." Without putting too fine a point on it, this is just wrong. It is the difference in time gained per kill that makes Volcanic more difficult, to the point where I think it's way overtuned.
I like a challenge, but this scenario isn't just a case of being better making it more likely to win - it's a case of having to get lucky with so many random factors aligning themselves just right, particularly with enemy spawn locations. I actually got 0 kills one time, because the enemies that spawn at the start didn't spawn where they normally do (between the 2 buildings), and so I was way out of position for where the enemies actually spawned. Add to that the fact that the 'roleplaying shooter' mechanic often means that you're aiming dead on the enemy but the game thinks you're not for some reason (your shot hit the geth forcefield that is a foot to the right, for example) and winning the battle feels like it's taken out of your hands far too much.
I doubt it'd be a problem on Hardcore and below, but on Insanity it's just, well, insane. Mind you, a lot of what made ME1 Insanity difficult was like this. Activating the neutron purge on Noveria basically required that you find a perfect spot in the purge control room to kill most of the rachni while they couldn't touch you, because setting up properly with cover just resulted in the cover being destroyed and your squadmates dying. Replaying ME1 has made me appreciate ME2 so much more.
Grr, I'll beat it eventually, but I feel better after ranting.

in case no one noticed, im the original poster, but from my cell phone, for some reason my profile could not be synced to it, oh well just made a new one for work....
well regarding my post, i kept trying again and again and no, i could not do it, so i just went ahead and got my extreme power gamer achievement, i think ill try it again on hardcore for the pinnacle station thing.
Now my question is, how much of the game do i need to complete to get pinnacle station to spawn?

I've been trying to do this all day today and I think it's pretty safe to say that it would be easier to do this in real life. This is one of the most broken missions in any game ever. It's just plain p***ing me off to the point that I want to break the game disc.

Wow, I finally did it! I actually beat it using the HMWP X pistol with Frictionless Materials X, Scram Rail X, and Sledgehammer Rounds X using master marksman continuously. I got 50 kills. But I think I was mostly just lucky and all the geth just happened to respawn at the right places.

Do you need to do it on Insanity, or can you drop it down a difficulty? If Pinnacle Station is the last thing you need to do (no other missions before Ilos), then, uh, keep trying?
I am trying to remember what you are supposed to do with Hunt. Is that were you have to track everyone down and kill them before time expires, or is that where you have to kill as many enemies as possible before time expires?
Either way, I recommend taking your heavy hitters. Ashley and Wrex are generally good. Biotic users like Liara and Kaidan are good for disabling large groups of people quickly.
If Hunt is where you have to kill as many enemies as possible in a short amount of time, then I find you can stand in one area on the structure by the south-western area and enemies (Geth) will continuously spawn down below you. Keep popping Marksman and mow them down.
If Hunt is where you have to hunt down groups of enemies, then they appear in all the same spots, so you can start towards the first area where they spawn before the timer starts (while Ahern is still talking). Biotic talents, particularly Lift and Singularity, are good for disabling them before they start using Immunity.
Also, take Shredder rounds for organics and Tungsten for synthetics if you have them.
If you keep having trouble, let me know and I will try to help you further. I doubt I have a save anywhere close to there but I might.
Also, what class are you? What level? I actually found one of the Volcanic missions the toughest; I think Hunt on Volcanic?
