Actually, I decided to check out a game that popped into my head as being "Better With Kinect" - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and much to my dismay I saw that there were Kinect achievements for the game. This game was also published by EA.

PLEASE BIOWARE NO KINECT ACHIEVEMENTS!!!!

Sorry for the caps, but seriously, that would be horrible. "Hey, to complete the series that you started 4+ years ago, you have to go buy a $150 peripheral for a 5GS achievement!"

Your main concern is that you might not be able to get all the achievements?

I have to agree with the OP. It woudn't be my main concern but it would certainly annoy me considerably. ME and NE2 are the on;y games I have 100% complration on and I'm proudof that. Not being able to add ME3
to that without spending $100+ would certainly make me disappointed.

I know I will (if this is true) so you're wrong there. And according to the PS3 boxart, there won't be Move support so your wrong again. And third of all, it won't be exercise. It will still be played mainly with a controller. Kinect will just be there for smaller things like maybe Galaxy Map navigation or voice commands. You can sit down while your using it. If you call that exercise, you may need to work out a little more.

supporting kinect but not move would be a bad buisness move. it'd alienate the PS3 crowd. though i doubt anyone would actually care. it'd still be a symbolic alienation of their userbase.

you have no idea what it would be used for. having it for menu useage like the galaxy map would be horrible, you sound like you have a kinect, have you seen a GOOD kinect menu? i think not...

the best thing they could do is use voice commands, which again, arent necessary or even enriching gameplay in any real way. so why would they bother?

i really hope this is a box art mistake because well, ME3 literally has nothing to gain from having kinect support.

Yeah, it would alienate the PS3 crowd, just like when the PS3 didn't get ME1 and got ME2 a year later. Mass Effect has always put the 360 first and the PS3 second. This is no special case. You know what would be a bad business move, getting rid of a feature from both conoles just because one isn't compatible. Should Valve have gotten rid of Steam on the PS3 version of Portal 2 just because the 360 version couldn't do it. Of course not. It would be a dumb busniness decision not to have Kinect because that gets rid of the potential audience who would get Mass Effect for the Kinect features. If anything, it will help sales, not hurt them. Okay, it might hurt PS3 sales, but the 360 sales would go up instead so it wouldn't matter.

You're right, I don't know what it would be used for. I'm just speculating. But Bioware are the game developers here, not me. They're the ones who are gonna think of the brilliant Kinect innovation, not you or me. And for the record, I think the Kinect menu controls for the dashboard work perfectly fine. It's not necessarily as fast as using the controller (unless you're doing voice commands) but it still works. But like I said, it may not be used for menu navigation. Kinect can do a lot of things. It's Bioware who's going to think of a great way to use it.

You know I won't mind that much if all it is pretty much only for Voice support for some in-game functions like menus and such.

It would pretty much give me a Star Trek feeling ordering the computer to do something :P

Dumb down how? Considering the other platforms lack kinect , it would have to be an optional feature...

This might have been said earlier (I don't want to read through all 9 pages) but maybe the Kinect will scan your face for the character creation system.

Learn't long time ago myself to buy for PS3 or PC, especially PC these days. In fact flogging my 360 on ebay at the moment as I type. Use that money to upgrade PC even more win/win. PS3 might follow suit by end of year but as it stands right now ~it's the better console (....oh no he di'int!), yes I did.

It could potentially negatively affect the game because Kinect uses some of the 360's processsing power. But like I said, Bioware won't add this is it's drastically affecting the game's preformance.

that would be cool... but I think they should add this as a Free DLC or as one of those ''Halo Waypoint'' **** so it does not mix itself with the core game... this is not really a huge problem since Shepard's face is a 20 digits code... you could do this with your webcam and Internet, then Copypasta the code on Mass Effect...

it's still, whatever you guys may say, dub down the game asking for RAM and disk space.

it takes processing power (even if you're not using one), therefor the game cant run as high quality graphics and effects.

while its possible that might only be true for the 360 version, but then again, the 360 version would look and run much more poorly than PC and PS3.

Molyneux likes to say Bull****... the only game that may have made me buy this thing is Milo and Kate... and it has been canceled.

When they announced Fable III, I closed my eyes and shutted my ears, then I waited. eating Molyneux's **** makes you dissapointed.

BETTER NOT BE.
kinect is still new. BE CAREFUL. I could see how trying to make the game compatible for kinect could ruin parts of the gameplay for other players.
basically.... DON'T F*** IT UP!

What? You think this was EA's decision? Maybe it was. But do you think EA is gonna delay the game (if this is even the reason for the delay) and miss out on a holiday release AND invest money into adding Kinect features if it's something shoddy that doesn't even work well. Something that, in the end, won't garner any attention. You think they would put that much risk in to one of their biggest franchises for something that ends up not working well. That doesn't seem like to be a smart busniess move for EA.

it still requests spare RAM and disk space, therefore it makes the game dubbed down.

Did anyone actually expect it to be a mandatory feature?

If it is true, why would EA do this with such an established trilogy? They should be focusing on the series and not trying to implement a system that has yet to shown any progression towards the "hardcore" fan-base. I'm all for Kinect, but not with this type of game or series. Bioware could be making a new franchise or series, which would/could have this feature - either optional or mandatory, but they would rather risk upsetting a lot of fans and it would make the game seem "dumbed down" in my opinion.

Yes, what's so hard to understand in that? They absolutely would if they believe it will give them a few more sells because most kinect sells are from casual customers that buy their games on a whim. It's easier for them because they don't have to make sure about their product's quality, and the fans are already sold on it. It's what EA does.
