Not at all. She's angry about what happened to Johnny. It changed her much like Aisha's death changed Johnny. They talk about it in one of the conversations.

Personally I'm glad they toughened her up a little. Although I'll admit to being a little overprotective of her. Trust me, you don't want to be one of those fools carrying the 'Shaundi is a W****' signs when I'm driving by. I do bad, bad things to them.

Having finished both endings I have to say I like the "Good Ending" more. Which has you playing your role in the Saints Movie. And I'm guessing your a national hero now, at least to the public, the government still hates you. Though the boss fight and most of it was so cheesy it would even put Shatner to shame it is so deep into this and the "dramatics" I couldn't stop from laughing with most of it.

On the other hand the "Bad ending" is so griping, action packed, and down in your face that it would be great for the more serrious types. You basically blow up a flying Aircraft Carrier, kill a good amount of the Stag forces, as to why, well they after your framed for blowing up a momument decide to free fire on the City, kill everything and everyone...as if the Zombies weren't trouble enough for the city...but at the end you take your gang, storm the TV station, and tell the government flat out, that if they come back they better bring body bags, the city becomes its own city state.

The neat thing on both endings is it makes it possible to carry the game onwards, though I wonder which ending will be the "canon". Still a fantastic game.

That was why I preferred the "bad ending"; which in all honesty was only bad in how it affected the Saints Boss and Pierce on a personal level. I liked Shaundi okay in SR2, but she was insufferable in SRTT even after you take out Loren. I understand she's grieving, and it's clear she grew close to Gat in the intervening years between games. But after awhile, it was simply a buzzkill. Viola lost her twin sister, but doesn't let the loss consume her. She channeled her rage and sadness into taking down the Syndicate, and came off as far more likeable as a result. If I was sad about losing any character in the kill Killbane path, it was her. Other than that I felt sorrier for Piece. He was obviously deeply affected by Shaundi's death.

In any case, I found the "bad ending" path made for a better finale. You get to beat the crap out of Killbane, see a few near tear jerking moments, then play super heroine and save the city. The final battle was much more satisfying, and the ending defined badassery. I enjoyed the alternate "Gangstas in Space" level on the whole. Just not so much as a finale to the game. It felt anticlimatic in comparison. It also brings the story full circle to where the 3rd Street Saints were at the start of this game--except now their popularity is elevated further.

I think the "bad ending" city-state scenario makes for a better SR4 premise simply because of all the trouble seceding could cause the Saints. Not too mention the issues of running their own city. Now they would be the establishment trying to maintain some semblance of order; rather than outright criminals facing rivals for turf.

On the whole though, great game. I was very impressed despite a few dodgy design issues and the occasional plot hole. It's now one of my favorite games ever.

Wow. High praise indeed. I find the game epitomizes free-form gameplay. You are constantly distracted to do different stuff. Anyway, it's good enough to keep me from Skyrim and Deus Ex.

29 hrs and 52 mins of playtime later and it's finally over. Great, if sometimes frustrating, game. That infinite spawning is pain. I didn't even do everything I possibly could so I know I could get a lot more out of this first character. I'm gonna do another playthrough with my Russian Superhero chick next though.

The infinite re-spawn is a disappointing design flaw. You should only have to defeat a certain number of enemies once your notoriety is triggered. As you progress, that number increases, as does the difficulty, but it should still be a fixed amount. Once you destroy say, 15 cops, then you get a nice reward along with them finally abandoning the assault. This could easily be patched in, I think. It would make the game much better.

I didn't really have a problem with the infinite respawn thing. It created some amusing moments like when I, for some reason, had 10000 air strikes to dish out and the cops just kept coming, or calling in a horde of zombies to devour a horde of luchadores. Fun times were had. Then when it got old I just dropped notoriety.

As for the main story, I daresay this is perhaps the funniest game I have ever played. Certainly one of the few that have made me laugh out loud. The Male 3 voice is just brilliant. Like his confession should he not survive the three way fight:

Pierce: "Anything you wanna get off your chest?"
Boss, clearly distraught: "I call chips "fries!""
Pierce: "Uh...okay."

Or Female 2:

Boss: "What could possibly go wrong?"
Shaundi: "Getting shot comes to mind."
Boss: "It makes you feel alive, like fighting a tiger with a knife."
Shaundi: "Also a ****ty idea!"

Shaundi seems a littler tougher now. She was such a wimp in SR2, I wanted to put a bullet through her head most of the game. I don't know what there was to like at all about the crack headed, **** Shaundi from SR2.

Her toughness is out of character but that's not the only problem. She's unnecessarily angry. Again, out of character for her.

I don't know the way she took Gats Death, it would not surprise me if those two were an "Item" in secret. I mean Gat DID stick with a woman who was "Dead" for years. Thats a man that can keep his mouth shut, and it would put her anger into perspective. As to her attitude change in general...power trip anyone?

EDIT @ Seagloom, totally agree. It makes the most sense, but reguardless for the fourth one (Which is already being made) I'm sure STAG will return, plus there is the issue with Dex still floating in the wind. I fully expect the saints to be on the "**** list" again. I hope the next game is set in a version of DC myself, or a cross city title, but that may be pushing it.

The infinite waves were unbalanced like hell. Early on they made gang activity locations and cell phone leads nearly impossible. I once spent over 30 minutes fighting a one woman war against an endless wave of Luchadores thinking there was an end to them. It went from heart pounding excitement to tedium. Later on, the infinite waves were pointless as I owned every shop on the map. There was always some place nearby to duck into.

@KenKenpachi

I wouldn't mind if it remained in Steelport as long as Volition expanded it the way they did Stilwater with SR2. The city felt smallish in comparison to its updated predecessor. But I wouldn't mind a new location if it was packed with more varied locations.

I agree STAG is definitely coming back, no matter what. Although I hope they're not the primary antagonists in the interest of keeping things fresh.

---

I liked Shaundi more in SR2. She was a laid back, go with the flow type and her running gag about having an ex everywhere and always getting high was humorous. I do prefer the slightly tougher Shaundi in SRtT, but it was sad to see her former attitude largely crushed. There were hints of it at best. What was even more jarring was she didn't interact with Gat meaningfully in SR2. Maybe she was in a relationship with him on the sly. Still, given Gat's teasing comment about her and Josh Birkin becoming a couple, I'm not inclined to believe that.

Between her angry cloud and Viola and Kinzie being so awesome, I didn't care about her much. I think I phoned her into my crew once ever.

30 hours of game time and I finally reached Rank 50!

The best part of all... Is the fact that I am not even halfway through the game. I got my infinite pistol ammo, I use the Desert Eagle looking one and bought Dual Pistols, along with Infinite Stamina, max HP and HP Regen... Then there's the damage immunity abilities, I have them all. The best part, is after that I still have over 500,000 bucks to think closely of how I spend it.

I maxed out the pistols I use, the Ultimax Shotgun, the silver SMG which I also bought Dual SMGs for, the RPG launcher, and the first rifle you get.

Oh yeah, before any of this, I also owned all the properties and shops and the first 7 cribs.

Am I the only one that saw the "Awesome Button" thing in the beggining of the game (right after you fight lots of soldiers, and use that "flying thing" (I don't know the name) to destroy some cars and tanks?

I finished at just over 43 hours. Although my total playtime exceeds sixty since I played lots of co-op along the way. I wouldn't fuss over money too much. By the end I had over 2,500,000 with nothing to spend it on. Buying up properties ASAP and repeating easy activities such as the first Professor Genki game make earning cash trivial.

Speaking of abilities, I'm not buying up that bullet, fire, explosion, fall immunity stuff again. It ruined any challenge the end game had. I might get infinite bullets next time, but not for every gun. Just pistols and shotguns probably. The pistol is my favorite weapon. I'm fond of head shots. :P

...I only used the awesome button to hop into cars fast or do wrestling moves on random pedestrians. XD

Yeah I never touched any of the "infinite blah, blah, and blah" stuff in my playthrough. Even if a game is frustrating I don't want to make it too easy. I wonder how Volition is going to handle the end game choices people made? Will Viola and Shaundi just not be in future SR games just to be safe?

I beat it the game was too short. I never figured Killbane was going to be the Boss of the game....Seriously I would have figured his predecessor would somehow come back to life or Johnny was still alive and he would have betrayed the Saints.

I thought he was going to be the third gang until the finale like every Saints Row.....

It's a nice thing us PS3 users will be getting Saints Row 2 the story feels more complete and you're on one hell of a ride.

@jreezy

I qualified for them in the last few hours of the game, and figured I'd try them once to see if they killed the fun factor as expected. They did.

As for SR4, I'm curious if Volition will allow us to import save game data to shift a few things around or if they will pick a canon and run with it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the latter.

I have the most fun with infinite ammo and damage immunities.  I hope you don't shun the infinite sprinting, that's actually very useful and doesn't change the difficulty of the game.

Flying thing?  They come at me with tanks and those Hummers, but no flying thing I can commandeer and use against them.  But I found out the Tanks are awesome and hard to destroy by the enemy.

Just finished my first playthrough and what a great time. The 'good' ending was damn fun. Not specifically for the end part (which was a priceless parody of Mass Effect and nearly everything else) but for the actual rescue. It was awesome doing it in full swashbuckler mode, fighting my way up with swordplay as Bonnie Tyler raged from my speakers.

I'm with Seagloom on it being one of my favorite games ever. Haven't decided if I'll replay the end mission to see the other ending or save it for my next playthrough.

Also, meeting the Mayor had to be one of my favorite moments in gaming ever. I'll avoid spoilers on that, but my wife, who was watching over my shoulder at the time, said I had exactly the same expression on my face my character did.

Meeting the mayor was an *awesome* moment. Then he does you one better by sending you on one of the most awesome missions. It was total win. I also agree on the Bonnie Tyler, fighting up the top thing. I felt like my character was an 80s movie action heroine. It was great. :)

As for the maximum level abilities, I will probably take sprinting yes. Chances are I'll need it to survive. Infinite ammo and reload isn't so bad either aside from the rocket launcher and maybe grenades. Those are insanely powerful. I thought infinite SMG ammo would be godly, but found I still preferred pistols in most fights. They were only good for clearing out large crowds and brutes.

What I disliked about the immunities is they robbed me of any sense of accomplishment. Taking them all is basically god mode. Only melee attacks and being blown up in your vehicle hurts at that point.

SR3 is one of the most addictive game I have ever played. The game is a balance between a surreal world and a beautiful violent world which you can pretty much do anything you want to. I have not played the previous games nor do I have played GTA. But I like this one. One thing which I don't like about the game is that it doesn't have a cover system which I'm familiar with from ME but it have a jump and gun system which is so fun and challenging, making you want to do some trick over and over again.

Now I'm going back to play some. I played six hours yesterday and I'm still only 17% of the game.

I have to say, Saints Row the Third definitely had the most * oh my god, gotcha! moments * of any game I've played.

1) Opening intro - someone hit the awesome button, multiple times.
2) The Shark Gun. Oh man, I want one for Halloween to take care of those pesky neighborhood extortionists.
3) Meeting the Mayor. "Boss, you have to be on your best behavior... Don't f*** with the mayor..." I had to replay the scene with the main character's zombie-voice option on, and it still was amazing.

Then there's Fall Immunity.  Falls Damage is just inconvenient and unnecessary.

I finally figured out how to fly planes by using the VTOL.  It's a lot better than it was in SR2.  You can actually keep them from diving.

Flying controls on the PC were vastly improved between games. I love flying in SR3, but it was just a headache in SR2.

As for immunities, Fall immunity was a must for me. For the swashbuckling derring do I love. I also took fire immunity since I loved using the incidiary Gravedigger. Was kind of a must. But I didn't take bullet immunity. That was just too much. I wish there was a more intermediary step of protection. 50% ish.

I don't mind fall damage since I figure falling from a great height will, you know, *hurt*. :P It's rarely a problem unless I'm fleeing from a crowd of enemies and unwittingly roll off a high ledge. When it's a big drop I just open the parachute.

I don't mind if anyone else wants to take immunities. If that's fun for them, hey, go for it. I know it's not for me after trying it is all. I don't think unlimited ammo is a big deal aside from heavy guns. Ammo is cheap and it saves tedious trips to Friendly Fire.

I might have felt better about immunities if it wasn't possible to get them all. That's one of SR3's great flaws. Opening up abilities with cash makes it too easy to master everything. It hurts replay value when every character ends up roughly identical. I hope the next game makes it impossible to take them all by making levels the limiting factor.

I'm starting to get tired of this game already.
Great idea putting a big chunk of the main missions as the same side activities you find all over the city /sarcasm.
