Yeah just audio testing. Stream officially starts in half an hour, and the presentation a quarter hour after that.

Anyone else thinks the stream was disappointing so far? Nothing new to show :(

The stream consists most of "interviews" with "fans," so I am not very surprised by the lack of content.

Oh well, the footage will be up tomorrow on Youtube anyways.

Actually Kevin O' Leary just said that ''Dragon Valley'' (HUGELY POPULAR BF2 Map) will be in back to karkand in the limited edition. That wasent known before now.

Adding it to first post.

He also confirmed Achivements will be in the game, no additional info on specifics through.

I'm extremely impressed with the Frostbite2 engine. Dice has set the bar for creating true next generation graphics for an FPS (take note Crytek and iD). Although BF3 better run smoothly in multiplayer with 64 players running around.

yep, this game embarrasses crytek

I can't believe there aren't any more FPS fans here. I am more excited about BF3 than I am about ME3.

I like the addition of new mechanics to the gameplay. Suppression fire is something that I always tried to use in previous Battlefield games, even though it didn't really do as much as I would have liked. It having a tangible and real effect on gameplay beyond the normal (don't get out of cover if you have bullets whizzing by you because you might die) is a really neat idea. Promoting the use of cover fire and suppressing targets through awarding points might help mitigate the 'I can only shoot when I'm sure I'll kill someone because of my accuracy rating!' problem that seems to plague many team-based multiplayer shooters.

BF3 is the game I am really waiting for. I've always been a BF fan. I own every game in the series, except 2142. I am also a flight sim fan and I love that the games included (arcade style) flying.

I hope some of the old maps (like Wake Island) make it to the game. I loved to create chaos on that one. :P

SP has always been a weak point in BF. This time the devs are giving it more attention. I love to see how that turns out. I think a lot of fans frown upon that, just like the DA/ME fans frown upon MP in those games. Ghehe.

What I like to see in that game is a LAN feature. That was handy in BF2 to practice flying choppers and planes. It was removed in BFBC2. I am afraid that it won't be in BF3, though.

Yeah. That would be great. That was an issue in the previous titles. I agree.

About that video:

Something interesting - DICE use same technology to animate soldiers that you see in FIFA series. See how they run (speed up, stop, turn) around or how soldiers at the start of the video is animated when he turn to shoot. It's very nice.

Good luck dealing with the whole vision blur/shake when you're under suppressing fire. Guarantee there will be lots of complaints over that.

This engine is gonna be used in Mirror's Edge 2! or well possibly. Good to see the engine already being considered for other games and nice to hear about a Mirror's Edge 2!

A lot of new info popping up on various sites and on the battlefield blog. A snipplet below:

classes:

The Assault class will be carrying a medic kit and will also be able to revive fallen teammates on the Battlefield with a defib kit.

The Support class can throw out ammunition as well as using an LMG to fight his way through hordes of enemies. The LMG is equipped with a bi-pod that you can fold out when you prone to give you that extra accuracy. Also, if you lay down some of that heavy suppressive fire on an enemy, you could also score some extra points as you’ll blur the enemies vision.

The engineer class is equipped with a submachine-gun with a flashlight that can actually be used to blind people thanks to the great tech provided by the Frostbite 2 engine. This is especially useful in the Operation Metro map due to the narrow spaces and darker areas of the map. The class also comes with a welding tool to repair friendly vehicles as well as an RPG to destroy enemy vehicles.

The Recon class has a semi-automatic sniper rifle and is also equipped with some powerful C4. Those C4 explosions can cause destruction – a Battlefield favorite – anytime, anywhere.

Battlelog:

You will never go into battle alone thanks to the powerful new community features of Battlelog. Players can build their platoon, communicate with other gamers, and compare their multiplayer prowess with friends and foes alike. Battlelog is free on all platforms.

Game Modes:

Announced Game Modes so far are Conquest, Rush as well as the brand new addition to the BF Franchise which is the Team Death Match Mode.

So Call of Duty Elite... for free? Just kidding, just kidding!

Amazing stuff from the guys over at Dice. I already preordered it on PC about 3 weeks ago.

Just to validify my fandom of the BF series, I remember that Battlefield 2 was sparked by an amazing mod of Battlefield 1942 called Desert Combat (which I played relentlessly, I might add). Im glad to get back to "The King". I have all of the games (except BF: BC1), and I played Bad Company 2 for a couple months, but my city flooded last year and one of the things lost was the cd-key card, even though I have the disk.

Question:

What do you guys think of BF3 including sniper rifle sway? I think its a realistic touch, but the EA forums are all ablaze saying "GET CALL OF DUTY OUT OF BF3!", as if sway was invented by COD. If done right it can add more to a game thats trying to be the best hybrid between a game and a real battlefield. I also should add that BF 2142 had a level of sway in sniper rifles.

I've got no issues with it on the PC, which will be my primary platform for this game. However, I do find it very difficult to adjust to on consoles, as the 'hold breath' button is usually R3 or similar, and I have a difficult time pushing those buttons without moving the joystick at the same time and moving my crosshairs off the target I have selected. And yes, Desert Combat was brilliant. I remember joining a massive tournament, complete with 'territory' that could be captured by winning battles and the like.

I think the FEAR 3 wall of death will be interesting but way too open to abuse unless something I missed whats stopping people from griefing by staying back and getting whole team losing because someone wanted a giggle at others expense. But as a concept I approve though needs fine tuning. One of worst features has always been peope camping online not moving from same spot spawn killing.

I'm glad BF3 they are using middleware type engines which is the new generation of engine used by EA in both Fifa and BF3 and TW2 to incorporate realism in games whether FPS or football or even RPG's. I hope Bioware starts using such an engine at some point but thats a different discussion I guess. Imho PC keyboard and mouse is where FPS is best always has and always will be where skill shines through rather than relying on a system of auto aim assistance and lower resolution graphics capabilities.

Consoles cannot compete with the shear level of choice and freedom regarding playing online via PC compared to the for example one site lists upto 10000 servers for black ops alone with most being dedicated servers and a lot being unique in one way or another from maps roations to match types.

The ability to switch between at will rather than only limited to player hosted rage quit children who when leave session everyone kicked just because they was losing the match. Also the hack prevention is superior though hacking is more prevailant too there are better systemns on the PC to detect and boot cheats if pick servers which use that protection.

i think the call of duty elite comparison is dumb since everything they've shown for elite is the free portion <_< (not to say Call of Duty's online is anything to be impressed by...)
