Confirmed that it requires Origin to play. Clicky Not very suprising, but enough to stunt my curiosity for the game.

*Sigh*, but i'll probably end up getting it anyway, damn.

Yup. Kind of figured as much after trying the Alpha which required Origin. And I'd be willing to bet every single EA PC game from here on out requires Origin too.

While Origin doesn't seem horrible from what little I've used of it mostly in the Alpha, I'm not fond of needing yet another log in and having to log into Origin then load up the Battlelog in a browser and then the actual BF3 game. I'd just vastly prefer being able to centralize things on something more trustworthy and more of known entity like Steam.

Need to see some solid conquest gameplay first, but even then, I might wait a bit on BF3 at launch, between just personally not liking the Origins/Valve situation and having so many other games come out right around that window, like Rage, Arkham City and Skyrim a little later.

There is no way they will get close to CoD numbers if BF3 isn't on Steam. They're completely eliminating any impulse buys from the largest PC gaming audience on Steam by keeping it hidden away on Origin. Which is a shame since DICE seems to be making BF3 with the PC in mind.

i know, that's my point.
i mean, i know for sure that Battlefield 3 won't beat MW3 in terms of sales, as much as i hate to accept it, Steam or not, but even then, they said that they know that Battlefield will eventually go toe to toe with COD, and this is how they plan to do that?
Alienating the players for one of the most popular(if not THE most popular) gaming digital distribution system?
on a franchise that practically won it's fame thanks to it's PC Audience?
By Deliverately, Forcing people to use a service that has been received negatively?
what an Epic Fail.

" EA has now confirmed that players will be requiring that players install Origin on their PCs to play Battlefield 3, even if they bought a boxed copy at retail."

Lol, EA is f*ckin golden. Obligatory bloatware. Meh, wasn't interested anyway.

Always good news to hear people aren't buying this because of Origin. I won't be. What's pathetic is that it requires Origin and they want to take on CoD, but they are limiting their sales like crazy on the PC because of this Origin Bullsh!t. I'd have bought this game in a heartbeat until they made it Origin only.

I can't wait to hear actual PC sales. People who say that won't buy it will be as successful as the people who tried to boycott COD.

Well of course the PC sales will be damn high but I will still not buy it. I'm sure others won't either. I know this whole thing is doomed to fail but it's worth the effort to stand against something you think is wrong. Whether it succeeds or not.

Anyone else played the beta?
i have, and it's Terrible(at least on the PC).

It's Glitchy(i cannot count the times i have magically transpased the floor, and what's worst, i couldn't get out of that, so i had to commit suicide. The Game is almost unplayable at times), The Servers are Unstable(i have lost Connection HUNDREDS of times), and it has Crashed on me A ****load of times.

Very Disappointing Beta.

The Game itself however, it's awesome.
It's looks fantastic, and not only will the campaign look better than the multiplayer, but the Options in Multiplayer, even though they say Ultra, are actually high, meaning you can max it out, but it will not actually be maxed out.
i cannot wait to see it maxed out.
The Gameplay is fun and balanced.
The Sound effects are amazing.
And the Maps are huge.

The Game itself has not disappointed me at all, what has disappointed me was the utter lack of polish and just overall care from the devs to this beta.
No wonder the beta has received so much negative Feedback.

I'm hoping all of this is fixed in the full game, because if it's not, then i hate to say, but **** this game.

I am having a blast in beta. I'll never play COD again. The graphics are beautiful despite the limited options to tweak right now.  Despite the issues in beta BF3 already has my vote for FPS of the year (I want an RPG to get GOTY).

The beta has been glitchy for me as well. Hopefully it'll be better on release but I'll be waiting until christmas and look at the reviews for it.

regardless of the rush mode that they released as beta map I had the opportunity to try out conquest and that was helluva blast...true bf map...I have no idea why they went with rush (i guess to appease to console crowd accustomed to more tight maps...)

yeah, that's what i'm saying.

The Beta has a lot of issues, but hopefully the game won't have as many, because in one of those rare occasions when i don't have problems with the beta, it is an Absolute Blast.

Same, I've played the Beta on both Ps3 and Xbox 360 and it's just as buggy on both. I'd thought the PC version would have been more polished but that's apparently not the case. I'd try the beta for PC but I'm not going to install Origin to play it so, too bad.

Just beat it. Awesome game. No way MF3 will beat that.
I was glad to be able to play for some other special operative service (GRU) this time. No offense to Brits but I was sick of playing as SIS scrub.

I am sooo sorry for the sudden over half year absent from me on the forums guys, alot of work and stuff have being insane IRL so i have totally forgot about being active here :( but i was able to recover my old account, since it had being comprosmised, and got it done with EA chat. So i am back and
all of the older popular threads will be revived in the next coming days! (except the BF3 one, that is unless people still want me to use it that is)
