Anyway, clamoring for nudity is one thing that likely doesn't really work.  It comes off as immature, not mature.  Essentially, it seems to say, "I'm not mature enough to not care about seeing naked bodies."  I don't think this is the message you want to send.  Tasteful love scenes = yes, gratuitous nudity and butt-shots = no.

This

A good love scene can have nudity, but doesn't need it.  A bad love scene is, at best, immature titillation.  Like Miranda's spandex uniforms.  So what we should be asking for are good love scenes.

ME1:  done well.  Brief nudity, but you don't really see much.
ME2 "safer", but overall okay.  Heck, I found Jack's seen to be pretty powerful.

Of course...like most people...I think ME1 is the best way it can be done...despite how much Rockstar gets away with which pisses me off to no end.

I thought (Witcher 2) Triss and the Witcher's love scene was tastefully done. They obviously cared about each other. The scene and story being told worked.

I really liked ME1's romance scene. Better then cloth humping in ME2 and Dragon Age 1 n 2 :D

Hey! Miranda's butt scenes are wonderfully crafted aesthetic camera angles... They are the next best thing to soft core nudity.

It's been the greatest game series of all time without.

...there's always modding if you're desperate.

Nudity is long overdue. Both ME1 and ME2 had "strip clubs" with fully clothed dancers, LOL.

i know, wasn't that silly.

as for love making .
do you have sex with your clothes on? i don't !
so if BW is going to show sex scenes, then nudity is mandatory otherwise it's just like any typical bad hollywood production.

Considering how many people, zombies, aliens, puppies, fluffy bunnies and what not people can and do kill, maim, burn, slice, dice, blend, chop, gib and so forth in 1000's of games...

Then ...

Well... It would take aloooot of nudity to match the amount of violence in ME game (and a gazillion others).

It can be done wrong or it can be done right...

Eg. Mirandas uniform. For me it destroys the game "immersion". I can stop thinking "who the hell wears spandex on a spaceship (ship) and especially in combat.

However "immersion" in a love scene (that sounded wrong)? ... requires nudity. Unless it happens to occur in a backalley or other public place... *ahem*

It's an 18 plus action role playing game. Dont put nudity (or violence for that matter) in the game for sales or provocation or the lowest common denominator.

Put those things in there to make a GOOD action role playing game. Use the 18+ rating to flesh out (no pun intended) the details of the characters, interaction, decisions and the story.

You know what is ridiculous?
As a male shep in ME2, you can get it on with every romanceable character. That leans more toward ridiculous than mature.
Solution: Return to ME1 monogamity, ME1 actual love scenes and make romance be felt over entire game, I don't want another short scene before final mission.

I think overall, ME1 had the better scenes (There were only 3!) but ME2 had the single best (Jack)

The nudity I demand in ME3:

- Liara's penis, while making love to my femshep, OMG ITS A TRAP!!!

- Wrex romance, full frontal nudity, OMG FOUR TESTICLES!!!

- Volus romance, full nudity OMG WTF IS THAT!!!!

- Hanar romance, for those addicted to tentacle pr0n.

But seriously, I'm counting on the return to ME1 style love scenes - well, basically there was just one, with different characters, but it looked the same every time, except for Liara, where you had an extra scene. Overall, the love scene in ME1 was very classy, and it just felt like a good conclusion to a developed (of course, simplified) relationship.

ME universe is a mature one, and having its characters sex in clothes is laughable. Fortunately, although ME2 love scenes were not as fine as ME one, most of them were just implying, that characters get intimate, and its better than DAO sex in panties.

I don't find ME1 style nudity offensive, and I think that style fits the ME3. The Witcher universe is way more upfront and dirty, mostly because its not american, and its approach on the love scenes is adequate to the world it appears in. And, of course, it wouldn't fit the ME universe.

Also, I think that since I didn't hear about Fox News raging about TW2, it's quite okay to get back to ME1 style. It's not that anyone would be offended about seeing some human (maybe blue) butt or a sideboob, is it?

Frankly, what I really expect from ME3 is that I'll be able to watch the love scene earlier, than just before the final mission. Not because I JUST WANT TEH BOOBS, but I find it quite stupid, that the people in the game want to have sex if and only if an extremely dangerous mission is about to take place, and come up to you crying and whining about how miserable are they at the moment. Can't Shepherd just have some joy from making love? Does it have to be 'oh, we can die on that mission, I feel so weak and insecure, lets have sex!' ? (I know, that it is not always the case :P )

BTW, did you see the newest gameplay clip? with the Earth sequence and so on? I can't find an appropriate thread.

about damn time they re-implement it. The fact that our world is so corrupt that we're more concerned about kids seeing a 3d model of a boob than we are about them going on all out digital killing sprees with blood, gore, and the like, and learning how to function real world weapons is a clear indicator.

Everyone has boobies, it only makes sense and side boob and booty is fine with me, I daresay preferred.

I'll admit when I saw the love scene in ME1 I went all @.@ face. Mainly because I wasn't expecting to see that lol, but my opinion of it goes with others who have said that Bioware did it in a tasteful way. The whole point of that scene in the game was to give players a view into the romance between their Shepard and the chosen LI.

Leave it to Fox News to blow something like that up and misinterpreting the scene and the game as a whole. A 1-minute long nudity scene seriously isn't that big of a deal when there are other games out that have worse content for people to see. Not to mention that logging onto the internet gives anyone free reign to more extreme nudity than what is in a video game.

On top of that, Mass Effect is rated M. Heck, they even list on the game case why a game is rated the way its rated. Simple common sense on that part =/ If a game lists that there is "sexual content" or "nudity" in it then just don't buy it if you don't want to see it.

It worked in ME1, but having nudity for Nudity's sake isn't what this game is about.

And what is controversial about a shot of a digital naked body? Nothing.

its not nudity for the sake of nudity, for me it is a sign of maturity, and making your relationship with your LI authentical.

Considering the inclusion of s/s romance options, I wouldn't say they're afraid of controversy.

^this^

Also it doesnt take nudity to make a great game or movie. But if the story is leaning towards that direction with two of the characters than they better be able to walk the talk so to speak. Nudity is only good when it fits in with the story and the setting.  But I am for ME1 Romance scene, it meant so much more than most of the Romance scenes in ME2.

Is it wrong for me to hope we will be able to use kinect during the sex scene? Somehow I believe this could be a hell of a laugh

Personally I've never used kinect and I'm not a big fan of the Wii either, still if they put it in the game why not speculate.
It's not a porn simulator and it shouldn't be but the guys from bioware should do some tests to see if it could be gracefully incoorperated

Kinda agree with celuloid and titussomething. :)

@celuloid: Romance stuff when you are in a relationship. Doesn't have to be xxx scenes at all. Have him/her move into the captains cabin eg. Buy flowers whatever... Not sidemissions but just... add a little bit to that part of the story.

@titus: Agreed. Society have some weird double standards at times... Gee, I wonder how those people arguing against any kind of nudity, sex and/or romance in games got their children. If they were fully clothed and had their eyes blindfolded they're weirder than I am.
