3.  People seem to forget that Mass Effect originally was an RPG,  with Character Skill affecting the ability to shoot.  It wasn't "always" a shooter.  Just because you shot something doesn't make it a Shooter,  if the Character's ability governs your ability to hit in any way,  you're in at least "Mostly RPG" territory.

Yes it was. A very bad one. Mass Effect was a perfect example of what happens when a game tries to be too many things at once. The inventory system was a mess and had no place in the type of game they were trying to create. It was simply added because Bioware makes RPGs and all RPGs must have an inventory, right?

The gameplay was also (by far) Bioware's worst. This is largely why Mass Effect 2's streamlining was accepted, unlike DA2's. Mass Effect's gameplay utterly failed, while Origin's did not.

you sir are trolling how can you state a personal opinion as fact. IMHO ME1 was an awesome experience and one i would advise to any person who was into sci-fi or RPG's true some factors of it were not perfect but it definetly was not BIOWARE's worst, its actually kind of difficut for me to put worst and bioware in the same sentence since ive enjoyed every bioware game including he shooter heavy ME2 both games brought somthing different to the table and you cannot detract from one without insulting the other .......

Point to where I said that Mass Effect was not an 'awesome experience'. I'd easily point it to anyone who was interested in sci-fi. Rpgs? That would depend on what the person was looking for. But Mass Effect probably would not be my first recommendation.

I've enjoyed them all as well, excluding Mass Effect. Regardless, your point would be better served if you pointed out an alternative for 'worst' Bioware gameplay'. I say Mass Effect because of its rather clunky gameplay. BG/DA:O/ NWN are tactical-oriented games, so they can afford to be rather slow-paced. But compare Mass Effect to other RPG hybrids. Deus Ex? Bioshock?  I'd argue that the gameplay is very weak in comparison.

I can and I believe I did. Mass Effect 1 is a game that tries to be too many things at once. I've found that this is due to the manner in which the game attempts to blend the rpg/tps genres, which was lacking. While Mass Effect 2 stripped the inventory and some stats, it also brought a much more fluid experience along with it.

In this sense, I feel that Mass Effect 2 succeeds where Mass Effect fails as gameplay goes.

Bull****, I loved ME1's gameplay.

So love ME1's gameplay. I'm not here to stop you. But if you're looking for the primary reason why many fans criticize DA2's gameplay but applaud ME2's, that's pretty much it. Streamlining inventory/stats worked for a series that was intended as a hybrid from the start. A hybrid which had some good gameplay ideas that did not fully work together. Streamlining did not work for a game series which was intended to be the 'spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate'.

You are certainly entitled to that opinion. Congratulations on thinking independently. Image IPB
