I just watched the MS E3 Mass Effect 3 trailer at IGN. Hmmmm... all I can say is that I'm getting a very ominous Dragon Age 2 vibe from it.
I wonder if we shouldn't create a "Save the Bioware Intellectual Property" fund to buy the Mass Effect IP from Bioware and Mico$oft. We can save it while there is still a slim chance of salvaging ME3 before it becomes another Dragon Age 2.
Okay first off can we please stop comparing or referencing to DA2? For the love God the ME team and the DA team are almost completely different from each other. There are very few people that actually work on both teams. How can you say it feels/looks/smells/whatever like DA2 when not even most people who made DA2 are even working on ME3? Your confidence in Bioware is rather disapointing. Heaven forbid that a company makes a few mistakes in the past. To me it seems that most people here believe that DA2 was the only non-successful title Bioware has made so why not give the benefiet of a doubt that this game will be a huge success?
Almost everything in the trailer looks fresh and polished to an extreme degree but not completely revamped like things were in DA2.

First off I never said you couldn't state your opinion you biggot. You are comparing two different games with different genres, different production teams, and different production times and assuming that the latter is going to turn out like the first. Second you yourself just gave me a list of games that did really well and you are complaining about one game out of that huge list that didn't do as well. Third the ME1 invetory was utter crap, I am sorry it was, compared to alot of other rpgs that did the whole invetory thing a hell of a lot better. Complexity does not neccessarily make a good game, make a game too complex and you won't sell, heck I was turned off by Origins at first for its complexity until I learned of the great story and characters behind it. Fourth, The people behind the new Mortal Kombat basically did what Bioware is currently doing with ME3 and that is watching and learning from other games to bring what is good about those games into their own. Is this a good idea, it could be or it could not be who knows? But there is a reason why they pushed back the release date for March of next year. If a company that has produced so many hit titles I would simply give them the benefit of a doubt that they would improve upon their past mistakes (pardon mistake cause you are so goddamn worried about one game being DA2). Why are you complaining about a game that you are going to get anyway is beyond me, you sound like a sadist and hypocrite. I simply play the games because I enjoy them nothing more. I just don't understand why you have little confiedence and are simply assuming the worst from very little info that we have receieved thus far.fiendling wrote...

Hmmmm… so basically I am not allowed to express my opinion on the fact that the focus/feel of the pre-release marketing of ME3 is unnervingly similar to the Dragon Age 2 pre-release marketing?
OK, I think I understand you now. Free speech only applies to people whose opinions agree with you.
As to my supposed lack of confidence in Bioware: I hardly think a PS3 owner who has only played 2 Bioware games can attack me on this front.
I played my first Bioware game back in 1998, and have since played and loved:
Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast
Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn
Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal
Neverwinter Nights
Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide
Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Jade Empire
Mass Effect
Dragon Age: Origins
Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening
and Mass Effect 2
This epic 13 year RPG experience with Bioware games must at least qualify me to comment on what I perceive as a general dumbing down of their recent RPG games. It first became rather noticeable on Mass Effect 2, but fortunately the overall quality, especially story wise, and its amazing emersion distracted me from the fact that they had to pander to the console kiddie masses by taking away the “complexities” like the inventory and the “incomprehensible” skill trees.
Now to get to the crux of my original comment: Dragon Age 2 was dumbed down even further when compared to its diamond in the rough predecessor Dragon Age Origins. It unfortunately didn’t have the overall quality and polish of Mass Effect 2 to distract me from its glaring flaws.
OK, now if we extrapolate from the last 2 Bioware games, what trend do we perceive? A definite move away from the RPG formula, which is admittedly seen as “complex” by the CoD Modern Warfare generation, to the more action orientated dumbed down action fests like Dragon Age 2.
Does this trend concern me? Hell yes!
Will I boycott Mass Effect 3 because of it? No, I am a completionist and thus would buy and finish it just to bring closure to my Mass Effect universe.
Will I hesitate before procuring future Bioware games? Most definitely!

Once again you ASSUME that I am not willing to let you have your own opinion and also you are giving me the same **** back you hypocrite by not accepting my own. I did not once be-little your own opinion, I only said that you arefiendling wrote...

Oh, that is very mature. You start an unprovoked attack on my original comment and then call me a bigot when I respond.Genshie wrote...

Did you read my reply at all? I stated that I have noticed a disturbing trend (my opinion again, not yours!) in their recent games of dumbing the RPG elements down and focusing more and more on the action elements. I don't like this!Genshie wrote...

Again, this is your opinion, I (my opinion again) like games to challenge me intellectually as well. Now what does sales have to do with my personal enjoyment of a game? Do you really think that Bioware will go out of business if they lose the action game market segment, consisting of the same high calibre individuals you proved yourself to be?Genshie wrote...

Are you deliberately obtuse? I have already stated that I'm a completionist. I have invested too much time in ME and ME 2 not to get the third one, even if it is a turd!
I am not going to respond to any further comments from you, you are clearly incapable of respecting other opinions.
I leave you with this: "when you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one!"

So many people complained about it in ME2, it's hard to make everyone happy. It's a mini game just roll with it imo.

what i'm curious about is the consequences of saving or blowing the collectors' world.
i read if you save it , TIM will indeed build a human reaper .
So if you don't he won't ? the presence or absence of a human reaper should have a big impact on the game no ?
but maybe that was all bs . Seems to me a few months is a very short time span to build such a huge entity.
