Yeah, the quote in the article was kind of annoying to me too, because.... yeah I would rather walk off with Kaidan lol, but when has Bioware shoved Liara down our throats? The only LI I saw heavily featured in marketing and such was Miranda, and that's just because of "DAT ASS" I'd imagine. Do you mean because Liara got to get some closure during LotSB? I just figure that's a taste of what we'll get with the previous romances in ME3. (or I really hope so.)

Liara: only person that CAN'T die. Ever. She had a comic book series dedicated to her exploits after Shepard was KIA. She is the Shadow Broker with the best DLC and mission (other than Omega 4 Relay) in the game. Not to mention that in LotSB it's heavily implied that she has a signifcant relationship with Shepard whether platonic or otherwise. Wearing a neon sign saying "I'm the canon love interest" is all that's left for her postion to be solidified by Bioware.

Don't get me wrong. I like Liara, especially Renegade Liara. But I don't like getting steered by the developers on how my canon should go. But whatever. The fact the I spent 5 minutes writing this post is enough to say that they're doing great work.

The writer has impeccable taste and judgment.

If by "impeccable", you mean, "terrible" then I agree. :P

Observations from the article:

The Reapers just b-slapped Shepard? Haven't they been doing that to all organic life for tens of millions of years?

IGN asks "how could ANY army possibly defeat the Reapers", then hints that a united galaxy is needed to affront and defeat the Reapers.

Wrong! Unite the galaxy, attack the Reapers with the full force of the galaxy together as one.

And.....the Reapers would absolutely annihilate that force.

Hope that's not the end game. Hopefully the story isn't simplified and dumbed down like rpg elements have been

Shepard and crew have journeyed to the Salarian homeworld, Sur'Kesh, to rescue a Krogan princess. Yes, she's crazy hot.

What?

I quite enjoyed the standoffish thread title. Good work, Mr. Priestly.

Reading now.

As for "krogan princess" why can't I shake this vision from my head of a krogan wearing a tiara and Princess Toadstool's pink dress and white gloves? Further, why (against all reason) do I think this is completely awesome?

Maybe we don't see eye-to-eye often, but in this case? Absolutely.

At the moment,  I'm not hugely impressed.

It seems very binary,  if you chose X then get Y,  if you didn't choose X you may still get Y.  Not sounding like there's an gray area,  or conflict such as "If you chose X,  get Y,  but not Z" or "If you chose X and Y,  get either A or B but not both".

In other words,  sounds very ME2ish,  sure you made decisions,  but it didn't actually create any deviation betwee your game and anyone elses in almost all cases.

This is in contrast to DAO,  where there were alot of exclusionary choices "Choose X or Y but not both".

But,  then,  this is just a preview and Bioware could have done more than the article alludes to.

Though I do have to say,  sounds like Bioware's take a lesson from one of the classics,  so that bodes well.

Well the whole article is really lacking in specifics aside from the krogan princess. The little that is there about choices reads exactly like the same hype they were feeding us about ME2, which turned out to be unwarranted. The proof will be in what they deliver, not how much pre-release spin they can apply.

Yep, It's best to be cautious and realistic about the whole thing. The fact that we're fighting Cerberus no matter what and them getting Collector base technology regardless doesn't bode well for major outcomes....

She probably has a quad too.

Ponder the sentence a moment:  Crazy Hot Krogan.

Wonder if that's a special edition of Fornax...

yeah, i gotta agree, liara is pretty much "the canon" LI and ive only romanced her once.

also, she's SUPER easy to accidently romance in ME1, like unless you pick very specific dialogue options talking to her at all will result in a romance. its hard to NOT romance her in ME1.

well maybe canon isnt the right word. but if bioware were to pick a "canon" shepard liara would be the most logical choice for a LI. hell that way they can just not mention shepards gender to make the "canon" shepard more flexible.

The first thing that came to my mind is a Krogan in Princess Leia´s metal bikini from Return of the Jedi. Not a pleasant image.

Krogan princess?! Woohoo! 1 down, 2 to go.

My hopes:

Salarian Matriarch on Sur'Kesh (perhaps as part of a sidequest? Or even a major character?)
A badass female turian soldier fighting for her life on Palaven

I wonder, since we will supposedly be "escorting" this "Princess", whether she will participate in combat, or stay on the sidelines and keep away from danger (ala Leandra and Wesley at the beginning of DA2)?

Encouraging news. We'll actually see past choices affecting the game. Gotta wonder what a female krogan (or any krogan for that matter) is doing on the salarian homeworld.

That's a very very good question.   One could wonder if the Salarians took males and females of clans  that didn't want war off-world before they spread the genophage.  This would make alot of sense when you consider how quickly the Krogan reproduce.  When the numbers of these un-infected Krogans are appropriate, they could then colonize worlds of their own.

It isn't hard to imagine that many Salarians would feel directly responsible for what happened to the Krogan, and that there were most likely many people within their government that opposed the genophage as a solution.

I had to suspend my disbelief when I read about a krogan princess on a salarian homeworld. I've never heard about any krogan princesses, much less about them being on other planets. I'm sure they'd create a plausible explanation for it, though. The krogans really are completely helpless, aren't they? They have their present and their future being handled for them by the other species.

I was disappointed when I learned that the princess is the key to uniting a divided krogan homeworld. I thought that Wrex was the key. If krogan homeworld remains divided, then giving the krogans a cure for genophage would mean destroying the krogans and endangering the galaxy. So, it doesn't matter all that much now if Wrex lives or not? Before, his presence seemed vital to the future of the krogans and the galaxy. Now there's suddenly a princess. I suppose it's a relief to those who got him killed. Is she here to make sure the game isn't broken because of your choices?

Okay, Renegade now means "I don't want allies"? I've been waiting for a while for an explanation for the Paragon / Renegade system. At last I know what's the essence of it is all about.

You've got two love interests, vying for you, from ME1 and ME2? What about new love interests - what if I didn't like anyone available from the previous games? No mention...doesn't necessary mean the accent is on the love triangle with Liara and VS. I hope.

Ugh, convincing the galaxy humanity is worth saving? How about convincing the galaxy they have no other choice but to unite against the Reapers? Humanity isn't going to be a beggar in this. We're all in the same boat!

I suppose I sound unhappy. The general mood of the game colors my perceptions. To be more specific, the choice for the main antagonist. Just read that other article where you're fighting Cerberus every step. Well, it wasn't pleasant to read about, and I can only imagine that it's going to be even less fun to actually play through it. :( Well, never mind me.

You know sense they say she's good looking what if this "princess" isn't a Krogan? She could be Asari or someother female that did some big impressive thing like shep did. So she's considered a princess by the reviewer but she's more or less Wrex's girlfriend?

That's not the gist I got at all, considering the journalist specifically wrote 'krogan princess' and all. Not to mention, what would an asari princess be doing escaping Cerberus on the salarian homeworld with Mordin and Wrex highly interested in her? Krogan is the only race that makes sense within context.

Doubt even an armada will do it, we need the factor x the devs have been saying, what that is we will find out.
