Get the WRITERS from Obsidian and I'll be overjoyed. Bioware can take care of the more technical aspects.
Seconded. I personally find the Obsidian writers to be superior to Bioware.
For the record, KOTOR 2 is not Obsidian's fault. LucasArts basically forced them to rush the game after promising them longer development time.

lately obsidian seem to be adding RPG elements to franchises that lack them, whilst Bioware seem to be taking them out of franchises that had them.
that said I would rather Bioware stayed on da and simply improved on it making da3 resemble dao more.

It's a no-brainer really.
Obsidian has a long history of inclining Bioware franchises, or polishing rough diamonds if you will:
Baldur's Gate -> Baldur's Gate 2
KOTOR -> KOTOR 2
NWN -> NWN2 (esp Mask of The Betrayer)
Mass Effect - > Alpha Protocol (sorta)
Obsidian is the only hope for DA3. Hell, it even worked for FO3.
Yep a complete no-brainer. Because we want DA3 to have even more bugs and with even more things dropped because they ran out of time.
I for one can't wait to see what random LI I find in my bed because they only had time to finish one romance.

I really liked what they did with New Vegas(and their latest games, really).
The only thing they could improve on would be the technical aspect.

? New Vegas sold as well as FO3 did, and FO3 sold 5 million units.

If KOTOR 2 gets a dev time pass, so should DA2. If Obsidian gets a bug pass, so should DA2.
DA2 was programmed as well as any Obsidian game. Honestly, it even had that sort of flawed, unfinished potential.
Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think DA2 is effectively KoTOR 2 in a lot of respects.

Maybe Obsidian are the ones who actually made DA2In Exile wrote...

Alpha Protocol was a great game . . . as long as you kept from playing it. Seriously, did you play it? It was well written, the choices really had massive impacts, but it had the most horrible gameplay of any game in the past five years. FONV, even though some tweaks on it are kinda neat, was a bug-infested mess that broke every five seconds. As much as I have managed to enjoy FONV in spite of its many technical glitches that were finally fixed 7 MONTHS after its release, I think in the end FO3 was superior in many respects.

What he probably meant was that NV had much more depth and was somewhat more "closer" to the roots.
(Or maybe it was just the RPG>Exploring kind of approach they took)
Also, the dialogue, story and characters didn't suck as opposed to F3.

QFT. I don't see how anyone can look at something like FONV and recite its virtues while complaining about DA2's bugs. DA2 even got patched better and sooner than FONV did.

Every single Obsidian sequel has a considerably worse metacritic score than the Bioware original. It's a no-brainer that Bioware are the better developer.
The awesome RPG mechanics are far better in KotOR 2.
Loads of crafting, new feats and powers + skills playing a huge part in conversations, Influence system with the companions.
Rolling a Sentinel/Watcher with 20 INT makes you a skill junkie, and opens up tons of new content.
Not to mention the badass Jedi robes and the new lightsaber animations.

Make or break, they need it so they can see their visions and developments from start to finish.
That said, I wouldn't mind Obsidian doing a more traditional spinoff of Dragon Age that plays a little closer to NWN2 - which in my mind is one of my favorite games ever...mainly because of the castle - really want to see that kind of idea get explored more. AC2 and brotherhood have trialled a little more, but I still think NWN2 implementation was better.

Kotor 2 > DA2.
They at least managed to have a lot more environemnts and with the Restoration project you can see how much more awesome Sith Lords was to Kotor 1.

I've played it with the restoration project, and it only makes the game more of a boring mess than it was originally.Ringo12 wrote...

And bugs were the least of DA2's problems.
Yeah...I only hit two...and neither of them were deal breakers.
In fact, i don't think I've ever had a game drop me out or anything.
Besides - I can live with bugs, sometimes if they break the game, it just reminds me I need to go stretch my legs and see sunlight

Then let's get modders to create reksins of all the locations in DA2. It's silly to count mods as part of the experience, 5 years later. Although playing it with the Restoration project it's a better game.
But philsophically, KoTOR 2 brok the SW setting. It tried to do PS:T in space, because Avellone has about one fantasy theme he keeps throwing out there (he did the same in NWN : MTB).

Those guys are real cool cats in my book and they produce some great stuff... but Alpha Protocol did not make me want to debate the finer points of ethics with people I've never met. No did the combat quicken my pulse. I love KOTOR 2 and I think Kreia was a great antagonist (definitely much more interesting than 'I'm evil' Malak) but a lot of their success in that game was on the shoulders of the work Bioware did in the first Kotor.
Obsidian is solid. I give them props. But giving them Dragon Age would be a sad day for gaming imo.

yes, kreia was influenced by ravel but i wouldn't go that far and call the star wars setting broken. actually the philosophical aspect gave it a deeper story and more life instead of plain characters and the boring black 'n white, good vs evil ****.
btw georg ziets created the awesome story which drove mask of the betrayer
