And I definitely want to hear Joker commenting this lady to Grunt. Especially if she's Weyrloc clan chief's daughter. "Hey, Shepard killed her father and now asks you to marry her to both keep the dynasty and reasonable queen... princess at throne?"

I hope she sounds just like ever other Krogan.
"Shepard, tonight we breed!"
"....But I can't hear your voice without thinking of Wrex..."

My guess is similar to this, she is completely free of any trace of the genophage and that is why she is considered a "princess". Possibly the salarians captured and isolated some Krogan when the genophage was first used just in case it was more effective than they thought. That way they could "recreate" them if they went extinct. In this case would obviously be too important to Krogan to be risked in front line fighting which would be the case if she joined your squad.
I think your theory is closer to being correct. Since we know Shepard is trying to resolve conflicts in ME3 to get people to join the fight, it makes sense that the krogan "princess" would somehow be involved in a salarian-krogan conflict.
A certian thread here with supposed leaked info seems to suggest that it might be Shiagur, the krogan warlord Grunt talks about on the Normandy.

She's probably a high ranking female Krogan, however they determine that.
I'm am curious to see a female Krogan at long last.
So far, the only female we've seen from the "non-standard" species has been a Turian female.
And I wouldn't expect her to resemble a human female in any way, considering the Turian female was almost indistinguisable from the male of her species.

I heard she's hot as hell. Damn, sign me up for that breeding request, guys.
The only way a Krogan woman is hot is if the Krogan race has enormous sexual dimorphism between the males and females.

That's exactly what I thought, too. As the male Krogans look more buff and large and turtle-like, perhaps the females look more smaller, slim and lizard-like?
Hey, it could happen.
Dammit, now I can't stop thinking about this comic.

What if, in some point in ME3, the "Krogan Princess" revealed to (male) Shepard that it was SHE who sent that single breeding request to him? That would be so freakin' hilarious!

She is pretty sharp. Better than what I'd thought of. Even if Krogan dimorphism was huge, the best I could come up with was something similar to an Argonian from Elder Scrolls.

Although the only female Krogan I could see was under a burial shroud, enough of the shape was visible to indicate they look a great deal like the male of their species, at least in terms of body shape.

Proof:
Quoted from IGN
One example of these unifying missions comes about halfway through Mass Effect 3. Shepard and crew have journeyed to the Salarian homeworld, Sur'Kesh, to rescue a Krogan princess. Yes, she's crazy hot. The princess in question is the key to uniting a divided Krogan homeworld. Mordin Solus is assisting (it is his home planet after all), and naturally the Krogan clan leader Wrex Urdnot has quite an interest in the princess.
Speculation
As it seems the princess has found herself in a similar situation as Ashely Williams did in Mass Effect 1 do you all perhaps think this will also lead into an intimate relationship? I for one hope so.
As has been stated several times Mass Effect 3 will feature several temporary squadmates, do you all believe that once we find the Princess she will join our team and wreak havoc upon our enemies until we make it back to the Normandy? Do you think she'll pull a Reaper out of the sky with her bare hands? I for one hope so.
Do we know how a Krogan achieves princess status socially? Is she the daughter of some very important Krogan Warlord? Okeer? Wrex? It could be any number of these, or perhaps Krogan woman do not inherit their status and earn them as any other Krogan would, if that is the case why would an all powerful Krogan Princress require our aid? I do not know, but we can only imagine her intentions once we find her, or what our reasons for rescuing a Krogan Princess are in the first place.
Wild Speculation:
With Grunt immediately achieving high social status in Clan Urdnot is this Princess perhaps his future mating partner or the leader of the joint female tribe? Would that be appropriate for a tank-bred Krogan, even one as strong as Grunt, to mate with a Krogan Princess? Perhaps even more change is coming to Krogan Society.
Or perhaps this Krogan Princess has been held captive on the Salarian homeworld for many, many, many years and it has only recently come to Wrex's attention that she is being held there. Perhaps making her a surviving Warlord from the Krogan rebellions or even living as long to have seen the ending of the Rachni Wars. Wrex realizes what a drastic effect having a Krogan Princess joining and serving under Clan Urdnot would do, and going to rescue her is the only logical choice, and with the Reapers attacking at every turn of course he would look to Commander Shepard for help in this matter.
i feel like quoting brannagens law lol

I wouldn't even recognise it as krogan if they didn't tell so.
