Still seem to have the issue where i have to hold down the right mouse button, if i don't it stutters a bit. Engine fail.

Not that this is actually on topic for this thread, but it is fixed in the latest patch.  As detailed in the current patch thread, those having that issue need to go into the Gameplay menu and change the following: Gameplay --> Use Enhanced Targeting (disable).

Im using the 1.03 patch with 275.33:ph34r: drivers and I have not experienced crashes or shadow issues yet (GTX 460) however do notice small pauses at times in combat, but nothing severe enough to roll back.

First crashes I have ever had with DA2 have been since 1.03 and Nvidia driver 275.33. Assuming NVIDIA is at fault here, but I installed both the same day and crash at the same spot outside the Qunari compound. Thought it might be a mod but I deleted them all and it still crashes. Guess it is time to roll them back again.

Well, to update on my experience with 275.33, I was able to fix my pausing by disabling the new Enhanced Targeting in the gameplay options, and still have not had one crash or shadow glitch.

Should mention specs and settings I guess

q6600 @ 2.80 (stock 2.4)
4 gb DDR2 @ 940 (stock 667)
MSI Cyclone OC GTX 460 768 mb 790/1580/2000 (stock oc is 727/1455/1800)
Windows 7 64 bit SP1

Game patch: 1.03
Any DLC:BE and many promo items, no exiled prince
Settings:
Res: 1440x900
Vsync: No (however am running D3DO and have it set to force vsync and tripple buffer)
High Res Tex: Yes
DX:11
Detail level:High (very high does give shadow bugs and slowdowns, but always has)
SSAO:Yes
AA: 4x
AF: 8x

Game seems to run smooth as butter, after turning off Enhanced Targeting have experienced no slowdowns anywhere.

I had the same shadow issue, and one crash on entrance to the DeLauncis (sp?) Estate in Act 3, using 275.33 on v1.02. No crash, but shadow issue still present on v1.03. Rolled drivers back to 270.61 and am running the game without issue on v1.03.

Settings:
DX11, Ultra High, AA x4, 1920x1080, VSync On.

PC: i7 920 (OC to 3.78GHz)
GTX 470 (OC to 772/1544/1848)
6GB RAM
Windows 7, 64-bit.

The 275.33 drivers are garbage with DA2. Rolling back to 270.61 fixed it right up as others have stated.
Anytime I change any settings in the game it becomes very unstable in general. Finally got it working good again after 3 or 4 crashes.

Yeah I just beat Witcher 2 so I went ahead and rolled back to 270.61 and DA2 runs flawlessly now on Very High.  With all the bug fixes and blalancing I'm really looking forward to actually playing the game for the 1st time now.  It's still a weird thing, but hopefully nvidia fixes it.  I remember a while back the exacts same shawo-flickering thing wrecked half-life2 after a driver update and they fixed it in a week or so, so I'm optimistic.

I have the shadow issues as well as cut scene freezing since installing 275.33 The shadows are quite annoying flickering all over the place. I'll think about rolling back.

I only had one in game crash to desktop so far with the 1.03 patch with all settings maxed out so it seems to have helped - only now the drivers are causing problems. If it's not one thing it's another.

Don't blame the 1.03 patch, it's a problem with the 275.33 drivers. They don't give problems just in DA2, but also in other games (like artifacts in the water in Rift, for example).
Go back to the 270.61 drivers, these work perfect.

ok, just realized everyone is reporting the issue with very high setting, i was on high, my bad :(

Anyways, Very High is also very glitch heavy for me with the 275.33 drivers, so back to 270.61 and all is good.

So I've recently gotten the latest Nvidia driver 275.33, or so I am led to believe (the installation took forever-- I think something may have been wrong with that), along with DA2 patch 1.03. The game seems to be less stable now. First I ran into this issue, but that went away after reloading the game (much like the rainbow issue). But I still had shadows disappearing while clicking on loot. But that also went away after reloading. Most importantly though, I'm now getting repeated crashing at the start of the first cutscene after that video. This only goes away when I turn off "very high" graphics. (all the bottom checkboxes can be unchecked with AA at 4x and it still crashes on Very High)

I've played through the whole game on the settings seen in the first video without these issues before (except occasional random freezes, infrequent though).

Specs...
Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium
AMD Phenom 9950 2.6 ghz
8 GB ram
Nvidia GTX 560 Ti

Same here. Exactly the same problem.
Windows 7 64 bit, DA2 1.3, 275.33, Geforce GTX 580, Intel Core i7 2600

Since the older driver did work, and the new one does not, why all of the wailing and gnashing of teeth? Roll it back!

The older driver works reasonably well with the high textures where the fully certified driver was prone to crashing even with DX9, but it still has some...issues.  I think everyone is hoping that the newest beta will finally play nice with DA2.

Honestly, I rolled the graphics back to high and kept the 275.33 drivers, I don't notice a huge graphical difrence between high and vhigh, and high runs perfect :D

I see, so it seems to be definitely not the patch then, but DA2 in general with the newest Nvidia driver.

I had the old drivers as well - no issues. Patched them with the new ones and a big time crash. Rolled them back - no issues. Running an Evga 560TI at max settings with a bit of overclocking.

Bioware, just use the Unreal engine you use in Mass Effect. It looks great and when has the unreal engine ever had any performance problems?

Sorry if i am harsh, but Bioware is not good at developing graphic engines. The NWN engine sucked, DAO engine was not good either. And the DA2 engine also comes with heaps of problems. Or maybe get the licence for the Witcher 2 engine, as it is supposed to be amazing for developing RPG games, and it looks better than all of your games except ME2 which looks just as good.

No thanks on the Unreal Engine.

Last thing we need is Randomly Flying Hawke and ugly ME-style static hair in Dragon Age.

Well, speaking for me and others who may also be playing The Witcher 2, the 270 drivers have performance issues in that game that the 275 flavor fix.  It is ridiculous to have to switch back and forth.

Not sure what changed between the two revisions but Nvidia has not impressed me with their driver releases since I jumped ship from ATI and got a 570.

Yet people are talking here, on the DA2 tech support forums, so it was safe to assume that what they want help to play correctly DA2. We are just telling wich ones are the more stable for this game and in general, but it's your call if you want to use some drivers that give performance issues with one game, or use other drivers that fix that at the expense of breaking several others (like I said the 275.33 don't give problems just with DA2). There's nothing else that can be done from here, but you can go to have a talk with NVidia (I'm not saying this trying to be rude, but because they are the ones to press to fix this mess).

If you want to keep the 275.33 driver, it seems to run DA2 without issue if you can settle for "high" rather than "very high" graphics until such time as there's a new driver (which hopefully fixes the issue).

That is unless you wish to run DAO at all, in which case a roll back is required.
