Hi, i just patched DA2 to 1.03. I run the Steam version.

I started a fresh new playthrough but Hawke's mother is just a floating head now. I never encountered this bug before.

I updated my nvidia drivers to the latest 275.33 before playing to DA2, maybe it's related?

My specs are Windows 7 64-bit SP1, two 512 MB GeForce 8800GT with SLI enabled, 4 GB RAM, Intel Quad Core Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz.

Of course i ran the Steam verify integrity of files tool, all was fine.

Thanks for help!

I would try rolling back the drivers first. There are several reported issues with the latest nvidea drivers.

That should not be as funny as I find it really.

AFAIK, the kind of error that creates this effect isn't a Bioware exclusive (and it isn't brand new to the Social Forums, either).  I am fairly certain it happened in either DAO or one of the Mass Effect games.  Do a search, just avoid the garbage here on site that is merely a bad excuse for what a search should be.  Maybe someone figured out what caused it previously.

IIRC... the last time I saw this was in DAO, or the Witch Hunt DLC... and they had modded the game before installing it.

So, OP... any mods installed?

I will try it, but as a last resort. But thanks for the tip.

I did a search before posting (in this forum and with Google) and yes this bug seems to be common (there are even videos on Youtube), but i couldn't find any tip on the cause nor the solution.

[UPDATE] I launched the game one hour ago and the problem was gone! I didn't change anything in the configuration and i still have the 275.33 nvidia drivers. It seems that the shut down/reboot of my computer did the fix...

I will tell you if the bug appears again.

Still the same bug, when Hawke encounters Varric for the first time in Kirkwall. Hawke was a floating head with floating hands and feet, her body was invisible.

I will try the DX9 mode, i don't remember exactly but i think i was playing pre-patch in DX9. Maybe it's the DX11 mode which is bugged?
