A few of us NWN1 players started a couple Facebook groups
where we are looking to unite the communities of both NWN1 and NWN2 together. If
anything to try to find players for either game and to help, the communities
find each other on Facebook. Both the NWN community group and NWC (Neverwinter
connections) invite any member of the NWN2 communities to join and help promote
your project or PW or just find and meet other players of NWN 1 and NWN2.

Here is a link to the NWN Community group on Facebook.

Thanks for posting that omen_shepperd. Yes folks, this might actually be a decent way to keep "connected" without having to constantly visit the boards with PMs and such. Not a bad idea, really. Thanks again omen_shepperd.

Can we next, maybe try to unite the Diablo and Baldur's gate communities? After all, they are just as similar as NWN and nwn2. btw, there is no such game as nwn1. If you can find a game for sale named NWN1 please post it and prove me wrong. Otherwise, please respect the game and call it by its name.

I agree that it all seems a bit mixed up, having both games in the same board. Now, about the other part of your comment:

How is adding an 1 disrespectful? I don't see any problem with that, does it make you confuse NWN with any other game? I've written NWN1 sometimes (and will do it again in the future), and I didn't feel like I was insulting the game when I did. My most sinceres apologies if I offended someone with my 1s.

Stripes: "Lighten up, Francis."

I like "NWN1" representing the 2002 Bioware game. "NWN2" represents the 2006 Obsidian game. So, I guess that makes "NWN" good for the 1991 AOL game.

Sorry, after Starcraft 2 was released, Starcraft (1998) became commonly referred to as "Starcraft 1".

As far as Facebook.  I think it is good.  A problem is that now there are getting to be many places to meet (Bioware social, Neverwinterconnections, Facebook, Steam (has a lot of traffic), Citadel, Bioware original boards, Lexicon, the ign.vault, and more).  A thought is:  Why not advertise neverwinterconnections.com and use it.  If traffic increased they may upgrade the site.  Maybe Bioware would make a small forum to be used by both of the communities.  Secondly, not everyone has jumped on the Facebook bandwagon, nor wil they.  Not everyone wants to be forced to join a site unrelated to NWN just to keep in contact with both communities.  I'll be out of the loop and I have NWN1 and NWN2 installed.

Over all, it's good to see the NWN communities continuing to innovate.

I think the NWN and NWN2 communities are a perfectly natural fit. We've managed a mixed community on neverwinterconnections for some time now. While there was some ugliness there, just as there was ugliness here, when NWN2 first came out we seem to have gotten past it and the senior members now move quickly to chase off trolls and put a stop to flame wars.

For the record... if there are still NWN2 players who were chased away in the early days we'd like very much to have you back. PW's are also encouraged to use our scheduling functions.

We aren't trying to present these new facebook pages as alternatives to existing communities. We're honestly just trying to keep up with changing technologies. Facebook is a great way too keep in touch with players, but it's obviously only useful to the steadily growing number of people that actively use it.

I think our diversity of communities is a strength. For the record we'd love to see more traffic on the NWC site, but our focus is multiplayer, and that's a pretty small percentage of the player base. The same could be send for most of the NWN communities. The only site that really crosses over to all of our interests is the vault, so I'd like to encourage all the communities to take better advantage of the vaults news and banner ad functions.

One of the things we're trying to do on facebook is tie all the communities together by passing on important news between them.

I also take comfort in knowing that if Bio should stop supporting the NWN boards or NWC should crash, or some other catastrophic failure should occur there are other active communities I can turn to for news and information.

Yeah, seriously... it's common practice, when a thing has a sequel with the same title but suffixed "2" that the original is termed "1" whenever there may be confusion. If I were just talking about NWN1 on it's own, I'd more than likely just call it "NWN2", but in a discussion about the two, the first can be more readily emphasised as distinct from the series, engine or trademark as a whole by adding a "1". The exact same thing happens with Baldur's Gate and pretty much any other game which has a "2". It's not that big a deal.

Personally, I have little love for Facebook, but anything to get some much-delayed publicity for the game(s) is probably not a bad thing.

Just a brief update not only have we hit 350 members but the admin team made a crucial decision over the past few days. Due to a couple of reasons I will detail further in this post we are no longer supporting the NWN MMO on the Facebook Community page.

We are a NWN 1 and NWN 2 focused group. This group was not initially created for the new neverwinter mmo. After recent posts to the group page we decided unanimously as the admin team that we wanted to be a NWN 1 and NWN 2 focused group. We are attempting to eliminate technical questions regarding the NWN MMO as well as new advertisement for that game that appears on our facebook group. We will always welcome and attempt to help with NWN 1 and NWN 2 technical questions.

When posts about neverwinter MMO are written in the group, we will let them be as long as they do not spam, do not advertise the game itself (advertising a server to play is fine, so would asking where to play), ask technical questions about the game, and the post is serious.
Generally this would mean most posts about neverwinter mmo would stay, but not be allowed to derail the focus of the group.
