Its never happened before but I just imported a recently finished ME1 game save to ME2, and the game crashes at the part After you meet with Veetor and Tali, the mission ends and I get the mission summary screen.  then I click "exit" to continue and the game crashes in the loading screen every time.  A message pops up saying that "Mass Effect 2 has stopped working. windows is checking for a solution.  I can't figure out whats wrong, I tried to Verify the cache file through steam and it did. but it didn't solve the problem.  anyone know whats up?

Please consult the "Read First" thread as you have left out valuable information, and also clean up that block of text, its unreadable.

I assume you are are running the game in XP compatibility mode, as well as running it as admin, or with UAC disabled.
If so, then it sounds like there if a file corruption that is causing the game to crash once it tries to load the debriefing scene with The Illusive Man. Verifying the cache intergrity -should- have resolved the issue.
What revision drivers are you running for your video card? By that I mean the nvidia version number, not the 8.17.12 generic revision number DXDIAG reports.
I wold also suggest redownloading and installing DX9.0c from Microsofts website, in case a recent game installation that has installed DX10 or 11 has corrupted the DX9 install.

I'm not sure what the problem was, but I think a virus may have corrupted a file in the game, but I had to reinstall the game twice to get it working again. I was starting to get nervous. I appreciate the help. thanks guys.
