Some stick in the mud reports one of my polls - sure, I can see how some people don't understand humor.  I get an email saying my account is temporarily banned.

Okay, whatever.  I earned a ban from the forums.  I accept that.

But as you can see, I can post on the forums.

What I CAN'T do, however, is access any of my ingame DLC.  Items, Warden's Keep, etc.

PICS:

No DLC, but it once was chock full: img21.yfrog.com/img21/7133/nodlc.png

It may depend on the content of your poll? What was being said?

I would assume no...but then each time you use the game, it does check your dlc to make sure it is authentic, with a ban I can see why that would stop you being able to access it.

There could be a subclause in the terms and conditions which explains more.

This reminds me of rumors and news swirling around a type of EA policy pertaining to forum use linked with game accounts. While at this point I'm just guessing, you may want to clarify if that is actually the case. (Related article here.)

Can most likly circumvent the login/ban check by just hitting log off.  Given that you can start the game and play it with all DLC without having an internet connection [condition of your particular distribution d2d or steam/etc may have it's own check, I dunno].

I could definitely contact Bioware help, but I'd rather post here and show what sneaky bastards they are.  I won't be able to play the game for a few days anyway, and by then the ban will be lifted - still, this isn't right, and makes no sense - the poll in question is still posted, I still have the ability to make more offensive polls, and I can troll these forums and make vulgar posts.

I can't, however, utilize the additional content I've paid for, because I can't log in to my game.

That perhaps is why you should contact their help line, it really looks like whoever smacked ya with the banhammer used the wrong banhammer.

Here is the vulgar poll in question:

social.bioware.com/58061/polls/694/

I am not claiming it is not vulgar, and I am not claiming I do not deserve a temp forum ban. However, banning me from my game and its content is way over the line.

As you can see, you can still witness my poll and be offended.

That sucks man :?  Bans from forums should never effect the game itself or the things you paid for.  I'm assuming, as was mentioned above, that someone used the wrong banhammer, though why they'd even have a ban that involved the game seems a little ridiculous.

Well, they should still be able to play the game, long as they don't try to login (sounds goofy).  The reason for the banhammer banning the social site access would be more so to prevent folks from say, modding their game so their character avatar looks obscene and Bioware is hosting it.

[ add / edit ]
Clarity, not just the avatar, but the screenshots/etc.  That said again, repeating just make sure, you should always be able to play the game, and whatever DLC you have purchased already without having to actually login to the Bioware/EA SocialNetwork.

Yet another reason to not use these horrible new forums. Say the wrong thing and boom there goes your DLC. Welcome to DRM people where you can lose a game you bought with cash at the flick of a button.

The hilarious thing is that all the "hard hitting journalism" in gaming publications haven't commented on the awful launch, the broken site, the broken DLC authentication people have been experiencing, and this. I don't think I've seen a single review discuss the social website launch and just how bad things still are for some of us with broken character profiles.

Mine hasn't updated in days and I can't even delete old characters I no longer play.

A forum ban should not cause you to be unable to access single player content that you have purchased. Could well be a bug but if it's not I hope that BioWare changes this policy as I think it is unacceptable and legally questionable. They are however not the only company that has a history of doing this, Valve for instance has been particularly bad about similar practices.
