I'm playing a Sorcerer currently on level 19 and with TOB installed. I've read somewhere that a sorcerer is able to swap one spell for another one time for each spell level. Apparently i can't find any way of doing that but it would be incredibly cool to be able to do so.

Is there a mod needed or are there some requirrements i need to fulfil to be able to swap spells?

Not in the standard game, and I'd be surprised if a mod could permit such a thing.

You could do it yourself with shadowkeeper if you want.

That bit you've heard about sorcerers swapping spells at some levels is from third edition rules, which you see in Neverwinter Nights One and Two.

Baldur's Gate uses second edition, and sorcerer spell selection is indeed permanent. However, as suggested by Incantatar, I swap spells at will using Shadowkeeper.

Just be careful to decide on some rules and follow them before using Shadowkeeper, because you can use it to cheat in anything you want, and that can ruin the fun of the game if you don't self-impose limits on how you use it.

Mkay, thanks for the good info. I might try using Shadowkeeper to replace a few unwise choices then.
But i really can imagine how you could ruin the game with that program if you don't limit your modifications to realistic and fair changes such as replacing a few spells because of wrong choises.

Lorewise, there have been precedents of powerful sorcerors (such as the Simbul) occasionally using wish to change her repertoire of spells known. I feel it would be all right, since the spell list in BG2 isn't really that expansive anyways (small variety, and there tend to be overlaps). I tend to end up spamming the same few spells; the rest largely lie unused.

If you want, you can swap spells in an unmodded game, with only the console enabled. Save your game. Then you just go to the tutorial, create a sorceror, and use the console to give her/him the XP points your original character has. Level up and take the spells you want, and save the character.

Move your game's save to the mpsave folder, and open the game as a multiplayer (the TCP option that's like a hotseat). There's a character selection screen that lets you delete the current main character and replace him with the saved character. Then you save the game again, move the file from the mpsave to the save folder, and voila. Your reputation has reset, but you can console in enough money to restore your rep (up to 18) by temple donations.

Or you could just take 2 minutes, use Shadowkeeper to change out the spells, and not have to mess around with any of that.

...as the thread already covered.
