First of all, I have SoA + ToB with the following mods:
- Ascension
- SCSII
- G3 Fixpack/Tweakpack

Some noteworthy components installed:
- maximum HP for all enemies
- Dragons/Fiends/Djinnis have innate and uninterruptable spells
- toughest spawns in every dungeon
- spell progression (durations, save bonuses/penalties are adjusted to caster's level)
- everyone capable of HLAs use HLAs (even SoA mages)
- consistent dragon resistances, immunities, etc.

I have soloed using a Sorc thrice before. Once was a decade ago before ToB got out. Finished it. Attempted a speedrun once but failed miserably (for example, the record last time I checked killed Irenicus with a Disintegrate, something I cannot replicate). Another was Tactics-improved SoA. Last was vanilla SoA + ToB, before life took over completely. Except for the Tactics SoA run, I never had much of a problem.

However, returning to the game after all these (six, seven?) years, I keep on reading about a lot of improvements (Infinity Animations, 1PP, holy cow, etc.) and decided to dust off my CD's and install them again. Downloaded G3 packs and SCSII because I was really intrigued by SCSII's claim that not much cheese is involved and most were scripting improvements (as a side note, I "cheat" by reading scripts, haha). That's kind of different from Tactics (though Tactics introduced the very gameworthy Irenicus showdown) and I want to try it.

The question now is, with the components I've installed, is it possible to still finish solo with an unimported sorc (I keep reading about a Tutu or whatnot) with maximum HP for enemies and toughest spawns? I'm actually editing a 50Gb video right now of the first segment of my run of the dungeon and I was honestly quite surprised that it takes 20+ damage to bring down most of the mephits and the duergars can actually last against Shield + DUHM. Granted, I took down Improved Ilyich once with a party but that was crazy anyway so I have no intention of doing that solo. But this, this is quite a challenge. I'm assuming it's nearly impossible to bring down the Twisted Rune at lvl9, now? Because, eh, I like doing that.

Do offer some insights and some near-impossibilities. I've been out of touch of the game for quite some time, and I don't know if I can honestly force it, given the multitude of amazing videos of Ascension I've watched. I've read some posts about a certain Alesia_BH finishing Ascension solo on Insane but I never was able to track down her gameplay's components (Insane vanilla was pretty doable solo, though I've only tried on Hard) so I don't know if she used a maximum HP install.

For reference, here are some 'cheesy' or 'old' things I am worrying about:
- definitely Irenicus in Hell, if for no other reason than the freaking HP of the Wraith and the Eye
- Twisted Rune at lvl9 (directly out of dungeon)
- Shadow Dragon (he used to fall victim to a C. Orb trigger to me)
- some quests like the Guarded Compound
- Yaga. Freaking. Shura.
- Sen... DIE.
- Throne of Blood

EDIT: Also, call me stupid or misinformed, but what is the infinite spell loop I keep hearing about? And about multiple planetars? I... never managed to do that before. :pinched:

Thanks, everyone.

Some of the cheesy tactics you mention won't be working well but it's possible. I recently soloed a full SCSII install to the underdark without much problem. Killed even improved Kangaxx. No-Reload is difficult but with reloading you just need some strategies and everything falls in line.

I've been reading the full details of the modification. Seems like I can't farm Ust Natha for experience this time around.

What I've been wondering about is, what about the apparent maximum HP rolls? Granted, most of the enemies have crappy constitution anyways. But what about liches, dragons, et al? At perhaps hundreds of hit points, is a sorc still well equipped to take them down solo? This is assuming, of course, that the sorc is not uberpowered (planetars by Adalon, etc.).

What are you referring to? The improved Ust Natha defenses are supposed to be unbeatable...?!?

Which is why he cant farm it......Am i missing something here?

The hell. Shadow Dragon has a level-draining attack now? Wow. Seems like I have to have AoP soon if I have to bring him down.

Took down the first level of Watcher's Keep. Man, all those GoB's and Fallen Planetars are not good for the heart. I have been re-selecting spells a lot. Seems like Spell Thrust is finally a perfect choice for a solo pick.

At lvl15, I'm seriously having a hard time bringing down defenses. Whew. Breach and Remove Magic aren't cutting it anymore. Mages have Spell Shield pre-cast and a Contingency Stoneskin on back-up. Too... brutal. SCSII is a harsh mistress.
