The Arishok is far more complex and that's what I look for in a villain- depth. The same could be said for the Architect as well, but he seemed far more single-minded and we pretty much know his over all goal is- though the means and future (if spare) is quite vague.
But if I can only pick one between the two... the Arishok still, just because of his you can't necessarily predict a humanoid sentient being.
Who do you think was a better villain, The Arishok or the Architect?

I would say that the Architect was far better - while you are not given very much insight into him in awakening, his mannerism, the way he talked, the perhaps sometimes rather flawed logic coupled with the fact that he most certainly was over-confident, sociopathic a-hole on a permanent power trip just made him rather awesome and a character who I would want to learn more about. (not to mention that he did remind of Lucifer from Neil Gaimans the Sandman, who was the most awesome character ever.)
Arishok just was some horned guy who eventually tried to raid kirkwall, and I didn't care (except unless I could have converted to the Qun and participated in burning Kirkwall to the ground)

Architect, hands down. The arishok impaled my Hawke 17 times during the fight, and still didn`t kill him. Very useless enemy

The boiling point was the Arishok being told to hand in 'fugitives' whose only crime was killing the person responsible for their sister's rape. They went to the law with the problem and the law didn't want to hear it. Then the law demands they pay for their crimes? Kirkwall was 'officially' keeping a respectful distance to the Arishok. After that event, it became open war because their beliefs weren't being respected.
I liked the part 15 minutes later, where he demands Hawke hand over Isabela in the same manner he refused to hand over the elves. Qunari hypocrisy at its finest.
Not the same. Isabela is a known criminal. The 'fugitives' went to the guard, the proper authorities, once they found out about the rape but no one did anything.
Isabela? They knew she stole it. She hid that fact from Hawke for 3 years and is directly responsible for the Qunari being there.
Remember, that's why she was being chased by the Qunari dreadnaught, and both ended up stranded in Kirkwall.
The Arishok probably wouldn't have cared less about the elves had they not become viddathari--after that, they were "of the Qun," and the Arishok's duty was to protect them. He had no such duty to Isabela--just the opposite, he had a duty to bring her to face punishment for her insult to the Qun. That's why I don't consider him a hypocrite for demanding Isabela.
The Arishok has every right to protect his Vidditary converts, within the system. Hire them a good lawyer. Kirkvall are not Par Vollen so he really should adhere to the local law or suffer the consequences.

The architect is hardly a villain... The villain is the Mother. I also don't see the Arishok as a villain either, especially since he's only really in 1/3 of the game. Anyway, why are we comparing an expansion pack to a full sequel? The Srchdemon and Loghain were both great villains. DA2 didn't have a villain.
