Well, the hud elements properly take effect in the first mission. After TW2's straight up consolized UI, I'm liking this one. It's slick. Feels like the original Deus Ex. I'm impressed so far. And.....we get a grid inventory. <3

I really dislike the "sparce" menu trend. So much wasted space.

Game is looking fantastic. Really looking as though it could be the real sequel to Deus Ex. As a result, I've been forced to upgrade my pre-order to the Augmented Edition. Oh noes!

Alright it's a nice game, and better than Invisible War so far. I have disagreements over some design decisions. Mainly the cover system implemented is mostly worthless, and is just there to give casuals added safety. I find that simply couching behind cover and manually shooting around it to be more beneficial, the only reason to use it would be to blind shot but ammo is so scarce (at least on the only difficulty you should be playing it on) that you really shouldn't blind-fire. Story so far is great, doesn't really skip a beat with the original Deus Ex and it also presents social upheaval without some magic virus terrorizing the world.

That said..

Letitia...is the MOST RACIST VIDEO GAME CHARACTER I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. WTF Edios...WTF.

Actually i'd also pre-order the game for THE BEST CG Video Game intro i have ever seen in my life! seriously that is fantastic of badass'ness! this can easily top ME2 intro if you ask me.

As both an avid Deus Ex and Mass Effect fan (let's face it, both have a badass cyberpunk man-vs.-machine theme), I am definitely getting this game and Mass Effect 3. Also, from what I've played from the leaked beta, it's looking up! I am absolutely impressed! There are design flaws, no doubt, and I wish some of the conversations were more complex like those in the original Deus Ex and in Invisible War. I underestimated the guys at Eidos Montreal: the gameplay, the dialogue... everything in it is amazing. I just hope the philosophical background is on par with the previous Deus Ex games and some select points in Mass Effect 2 (see Legion's loyalty mission). My overall impressions are therefore as follows...

GOTY 2010: Mass Effect 2
GOTY 2011: Deus Ex - Human Revolution
GOTY 2012: Mass Effect 3

Also, a word of warning: even though this is the beta, I realized that the game was difficult and the AI more challenging even on the easiest skill. If you're the type of gamer who doesn't get easily frustrated, then I suppose DXHR is for you.

Tell me about it. Her lines threw me off. She reminded me of those racist portrayals I see on classic Disney cartoons (ever seen those black crows in Dumbo?). I almost wanted to punch her just so she could shut up and stop ripping me off of my credits.

These writers have been doing one hell of a good job with the whole "birth of a machine" intro yet not many mention the pilgrims of such intros. Mass Effect 2 had did it with Shepard's intro as well.

How many of you remember the Ghost In The Shell: Innocence intro as being still the best "birth of a machine" intro? Don't know what I'm talking about? Watch the intro to D.E.: HR and risk the spoiler, to be honest the intro alone sold me for the pre-order goodies.

Yup but those are all the choices just for one level. Witcher 2 doesn't even offer that many for one quest.
