I am trying to install the Bring Down the Sky DLC on a EADM digital download version of Mass Effect. I have tried pretty much every method using various forum posts across both this site and Steam support and have still been unable to reach a proper fix. I am running Windows XP 64bit on a I7-950 with 6GB ram and a Geforce 260.
I am having no issue with the validation with the key, but with the Datupdater.exe program that kicks back this error.
A required security module cannot be activated.
This program cannot be executed (5024).
Does anyone have any thoughts on what the issue is, or a proper workaround to remedy the situation.
Thanks
(PC) Bring down the Sky install issue with Datupdater

I assume you are running with admin rights while trying to install?
Is the My Documents folder in its default location, or has it been moved?
What is the directory tree structure of where ME is installed to?
Can you provide a screenshot of the error message, showing the % of where the installer got to before it kicked up the error?

Yeah I am running as a admin normally. I don't have any other logon present. As for My Docs, its in the normal location. The tree to the Mass Effect install is: c:\\Program Files (x86)\\Electronic Arts\\Mass Effect\\
As for the the error, it kicks it up immediately after the Validating License Key is done. Process Explorer shows DatUpdater running and a window with that exact message as above shows up.

Just wondering if the EADM version works like the Steam version, where it doesnt actually finish installing the game until you try and run it.
Have you run ME since getting it from EADM, or are you trying to install BDtS immediately after installing ME? If you havent run the game yet, do that first, and then try the installation of BDtS.
If that still doesnt work, all I can suggest is downloading BDtS again in case the orignial was corrupt, especially if you have any form of wireless networking, or used download accelerators.

Nah, I finished ME already. Was gonna do the DLC after I was done. I also tried two different installers. The ****_a installer from the official bioware ME website, and the one from fileplanet as well. Both didnt work.

Could it be a lack of Securom?

It shouldnt be. I use a no-cd version of the executible which I grabbed from gamecopyworld (yes i have a legit copy, i just preserve my disks), and I have no problems installing BDtS.
