I just purchased the game via Steam, and I have been having this problem. I have disabled my router's firewall, tried connecting through a DMZ, disabled ECN, ran the game as an administrator, etc, and nothing works.

Nevermind. It was being blocked by another program.

Least you solved your problem. Mine's been going on for two weeks, and this was an EA retail version of the game.
