Just because people accept bi- and ******- sexuality as a reality in today's world doesn't give anyone the right to up and throw it in their faces either. And just because they accept it doesn't mean the like it in any way.

I've known many a gay man that I have been nice to and none of them just up and throw themselves at me as much as Anders did in this game.

Anders has exactly one dialogue point in which he will make an unsolicited pass at Hawke (which you will not get if you choose the sarcastic or aggressive dialogue options, and can be cut off completely without any rivalry gain by choosing the broken heart dialogue at the very beginning of the conversation), in which he calls him "scruffy", immediately appologizes and gives the player an opportunity to cut off all further unwanted attentions. I'm not really sure where people get the impression that he's throwing himself at them if they are not deliberately choosing flirt dialogues.

Every single "controversial" thread on these boards, every single time, end the exactly same way.

Sad but true :-/

Stop using the "r" word, if you expect me to respond to anything you have to say.

You're calling everyone disagreeing with you an homophobe while completely ignoring their arguments (and saying they are only a veneer to hide homophobia).
So don't try to act all high and mighty with me when it comes to being courteous, 'kay ?

Point 1: Homophobe is not a slur.

Point 2: I'm not calling people homophobes. I'm asking them to clarify their positions, and I'm encountering a great deal of resistance. And I am wondering why instead of going on for pages and pages about what is and is not on-topic, these individuals can't simply answer those questions and provide that clarification.

It sounds to me like you’re saying it’s a very subjective issue. I think all four of the characters are written well, they all ring true to me. If they don’t for you, I doubt it’s solely due to their bisexuality, since that’s only relevant to the LI portion of the character interaction.

They can be rather interesting overall and still lacking in some areas. Their "romantically variable" state make them weaker, but it doesn't make them all complete rubbish. I enjoyed many of them, but they would have had higher potential with more artistic integrity and less gameplay/marketting interference.

Maybe. Maybe not. It's all subjective. We don't know if they would have been "better" characters if they had been exclusively gay or exclusively straight, this is an assumption based on speculation. It might be your opinion on the matter, but it's not an irrefutable fact.

Not so fast—You conveniently removed the context of my remark about children in Kirkwall.

The only context was strawmanning and sidetracking. Keep it on-topic.

So, removing YOUR quote was strawmanning and sidetracking? Because it was your own words you removed from that post, not mine. My words were on full display the whole time. But you removed the crucial part of your own contribution that directly preceded my response, to present them without context and therefore hold them up to being judged without that context. And how exactly is that "strawmanning and sidetracking".

All I'm looking for are simple answers to basic questions. That's all I've been looking for for several pages now. And rather than simply answering those questions, we get stuff like this. Why not just answer the questions?

So, the question remains, if this truly is the basis for your concern, why aren’t the larger examples of it even MORE of a concern for you?

Just in the very remote possibility that it's actually a genuine concern : other "immersion-breaking" things DO bother me.

The "falling from heavens" foes. The armies of bandits that sprawl at night. The ridiculously exagerated fighting animations. The fact that a game that is BASED on the "mages are oppressed !" has hordes of apostates at every corners and templars who don't even look at you funny when you come and go in magic apparatus with a glowing staff in hand and raining fireball on everyone. The fact that people in the street don't move in ten years, nor seems to notice that twenty people are slaughtering each other one metre away. The fact that you can't say "shove it" to the two factions. The fact that every single caverns is the same as every single others. The fact that everyone magically become more powerful as you become more powerful too.
And loads and loads more.

Still, this thread is (was...) about how it's annoying that every LI is magically of the "adequate preferences" for Hawke, not the ungodly other amount of issues with the game. I'm not going to talk about how I hate the fighting system because it's anti-immersive, even if I ALSO hate the "everyone is hot for Hawke" on the same basis.

Oh no, not again, I grow weary of this stupidity, may we all screw who we wish and be done with it, whether you hate me for my choice I don't really care because I am enjoying myself, you do the same...let's agree to screw who we like and finally MOVE ON.
