Just wondering if after hitting the experience cap in TotSC, does the character still keep track of experience points and take them over to BG2? My ranger/cleric capped quite early in BG1, and it only took a single mephit to level him up in BG2. Also, his ring of holiness disappeared but the extra spells were still memorized, despite there not being slots for them on the priest scroll.

It's a shame none has answered this. I do remember that you can level extremely early in BG2 with a new BG2 game. I think all you had to do was take Jaheira and Minsc into your party and you automatically level straight after. If you played vanilla BG1 then i don't think xp is carried over. If you can confirm that the xp cap given in BG1 is the same as the starting xp given in a new BG2 game then I'm pretty sure I'm right.

Sorry I can't give more information than this because I've never imported a BG1 game and I dont have a BG1 save to test this with.

The standard starting XP for a new character in BG2 is 89,000, i.e. the cap for the original BG1, before TotSC. I'm not sure whether you can get up to 161,000 by importing in vanilla if you have TotSC installed. I run BGT which means that normally you could bring over any amount of XP from BG1, although I have another mod that reimposes the 161,000 limit.

From what I remember, you keep accumulating experience in BG1/TotSC, you just can't level up. But it's been awhile since I played so that might not be accurate.

I'm not sure what happens when you import from vanilla BG1, but my main char kept all the extra XP when I imported him from a Tutu game.

TUTU has the XP cap in the BG1 part but you get all the additional xp after importing the character to BG2. There are also some bugs like bonus spells still memorized or the extra hp from a familiar.

In BGT there is no XP cap.

Vanilla leaves XP at 161k iirc.
