Is there any point in making a dw warrior over rogue?

Stealthing... then sneaking up to anyone... riposte hit from behind (150-200 damage as both criticals), then constantly backstabbing with momentum.... this tactic kills any single target white or yellow very VERY fast. And orange bosses (if your stealth is maxed), at least half their health gone.

I like the idea of Warriors more; for my min/max build I plan on just going Arcane Warrior. =P

Oh yeah? Well warriors have greater dps potential when standing in front of a mob!!!
If your standing in front of a mob as a rogue, you are doing it wrong...

Anytime you're moving to get into a flanking position instead of attacking, your DPS is ZERO.  Warriors are never in this state.  If they're in melee range, they're doing full damage.  Any rogue being controlled by the AI is most often going to be attacking from the front and thus doing less damage than a comparable warrior.  Since most parties have at least 1 mage and the effectiveness of a mage changes DRASTICALLY when controlled manually, the most common state for most party rogues is to be under AI control.

So in most parties rogues will do less damage than warriors against anything but a boss.  Against a boss, generally it's not too much trouble to make sure the rogue is standing across from the warrior and then go back to microing the mage.  The exception would be for parties where at least 1 character has multiple abilities that stun or paralyze targets so that rogues can backstab from any angle.  In that situation the rogue will always outdamage the warrior.

Utility is the key for rogues.  Stealth alone makes a rogue vastly superior to every other class at the beginning of any fight that is not scripted as an ambush.  Being able to sneak in to scout out enemy positions, disable all traps, and take out that annoying mage in the back before he can nail someone with Crushing Prison is something no other class can duplicate and can easily turn a hard battle into an easy battle.

ooo my favorite warrior was a dw berserker/champion. It was an excellant tank and I had great dps as well. Only char that I could play on hard difficulty without having to manage every other npc at the same time. Only thing I can say that makes it better than a dw rogue is the massive armor.

Directly comparing the two classes is easier without all the consequences of gear options getting in the way.  Several of the observations in this thread have suggestion one class or another not because of the merits of the actual class but because of assumptions on who would use what gear.  Any class can use any piece of gear provided the meet the restrictions on the item so if a warrior wants to DW daggers, they absolutely can.

Real Warrior Advantages:
-Warriors get +1 stamina per level more than rogues which means more end game stamina
-Warriors get -10% fatigue cost compared to rogues which means cheaper ability costs
-Warriors get a fatigue return talent without having to take a specific specilization or kill in a specific way to trigger it.
-Warriors get more damage per level
-Warriors have more base attack
-Haste and Momentum stack for warriors with Precise Striking (perhaps the biggest advantage)

Real Rogue Advantages:
-Auto crits when flanking (Backstabs)
-Stealth
-Lockpicking
-More talents and better synergization with talents (cunning works for persuade and stealing, strength only works for intimidate)
-Specilization specifically designed for dual wield builds that scales with cunning (assassin)
-Specilization with party wide buffs that scales with cunning stat (bard vs. fixed boost of champion)

In general I'd say rogues are more useful partywise simply because they offer so much skill utility combined with their greater potential for party wide buffs.  Out of combat there's more for a rogue to do.  In combat there's more for a warrior to do, they can use more active abilities which is better if a tailored approach is needed for a fight instead of straight up DPS.  While fighting I'd say a rogue is a little more boring, they'll spend most of their time positioning and autoattack when a warrior would simply be spamming as many cooldowns as they could.  They can spam quite a few of them too since they'll have fewer places to put spare talent points, a larger stamina pool, and all of their abilities cost 10% less than a rogue in the same gear.  If it weren't for the specilizations I'd say warriors had an advantage in DPS, even with backstab factored in, but there really is not 'good' dual wield spec for warriors much less two where as rogues get one specifically designed for backstabs and another specifically designed for high cunning builds that don't use many active skills (bard).  After you factor in the party wide boost to damage from song of courage and mark of death I think rogue is the hands down winner in damage.
