The Galactic community is at war and in danger of being wiped out. I doubt they have time to decide on a new leader through elections. A power vacuum would be created and various figures would probably fight for it, diverting time and resources from focusing on the Reapers. The previous leaders made it to the top for a reason, they were the most fit to lead. Just because you replace them, doesn't mean the new ones will be as good or garner as much loyalty. Seriously your comment baffles the mind.

What if the people at risk were VIPs? Say the leaders of the various factions of the galaxy have all met in one place and are now in danger of being destroyed unless Tali sacrifices herself.

Every single government or faction in the galaxy doesn't have a replacement? Hell, my own goverment has figured out who are the next 18 people in line in an emergency should the president die.

Given how hostile politicans (Udina and the councilors) have been to me in the past, I'd welcome a change of leadership. Maybe those people will actually take the threat seriously since it killed their bosses. Nah, that would be too much to hope for. Shep wouldn't think on that level, but she wouldn't prioritize those leaders lives over squadmates unless it was absolutely necessary.

If you are going to argue that those factions will not agree to ally against the Reapers without those leaders (every single leader is supporting you and the next ten people down the line do not, I suppose?) and and I need those factions or I will lose against the Reapers and I somehow lost the ability to persuade people, then I would be forced to save them. That would feel very contrived, though.


EDIT:I wrote 15, but I just looked it up right now, and the number is apparently 18. Even better.

I'm not going to soften this up, but it is funny to watch people get so emotional over a fictional character and an image.
Sure I understand the fact the story immerses you and while playing you almost feel connected, this is what makes a good RPG, but watching people get so emotional an upset over the forums about it. Heh.. Tis just funny to me. But then again you will find things I do funny aswell..

Who's more pathetic? The supposed obsessed, or the one obessed by who's obsessed? Also, try to open a topic like this about Liara or Miranda and see what will happen. The only reason of disappointment here is your desperate need of depicting the Tali fans (or Talimancers or any other name you wanna use) as the worst people out there.

As was said before, your previous thread would not have been locked if it was about any LI instead of simply Tali. Hell, maybe just a squadmember. There would be no occasion where a specific squadmember from ME1 and ME2 would be sacrificed due to the fact that any of them could be dead due to ME2. The only characters who could have this situation brought to them is the VS, Anderson, Udina, Hackett, and Liara due to their current invulnerability in those games.

Would I sacrifice one of them to save hundreds? Depends on the importance of that person. Shadowbroker Liara, and counselor Udian/Anderson may be saved depending on their usefulness, but otherwise I'd sacrifice them.

now assuming the team at BioWare decided to herp their derp and inhale car exhaust for a few days and actually put in a situation where Tali is the ONLY ONE that could be sacrificed, even though in some peoples games she wont even be alive, . If it seems impossible to gain the Quarians trust without her, or if the Quarian/Geth situation cannot be resolved without her then I'd save her because in the long run I'd probably be saving more people.



The only problem I have here is that you insist on it being one specific character, when in reality it would probably be an important character who cannot die in one of the previous games, or a current squadmember.

I will not sacrifce Tali. Period. The galaxy for Tali yes.
I will sacrifice any other character for the sake of the Galaxy,but just a few of them for hundreds of lives. As it is my game and some of my Characters are worth more to me then a few hundred randoms.

I'm loving all the "I'd sacrafice the galaxy for[insert one person]" I hope ther's a mutiny option for your Shepard's so the Galaxy and all your crew just go "Shepard's incompitent" and spaces you then saves the Galaxy on their own. Or maybe Harby goes:
"SHEPARD IS INCOMPITENT, LET'S GET HIM/HER AND LEAVE THE REST TO PROSPER"
